Blanchfield Army Community Hospital to hold Baby Expo for Fort Campbell military families, May 25th

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – Blanchfield Army Community Hospital will host its first ever Baby Expo, May 25th, 2018 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Fort Campbell’s Family Readiness Center.

“We’re very excited to bring this expo to Fort Campbell. The Baby Expo is an educational fair that allows families to be connected with community resources here at Fort Campbell and the surrounding city-community. It’s also great because we get to see face-to-face the patients who we will be serving here on the Mother-Baby Unit and on the Labor, Delivery and Recovery Unit,” said 1st Lt. Alison Wegenke, Clinical Nurse Officer in Charge on Blanchfield’s Mother-Baby Unit.

Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital receives visit from USO Special Delivery pregnancy and parenting author

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – It was NOT what patients were expecting during their visit to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital April 25th, 2018. Best-selling author of pregnancy and parenting “What to Expect” book series, Heidi Murkoff visited new and expecting mothers at the hospital in conjunction with her USO Special Delivery Baby Shower on Fort Campbell.

“We are celebrating military moms-to-be and military moms who are having their babies and who may be far from their family and friends and network of support. So this is our way of celebrating them and appreciating them,” said Murkoff.

January Eagle Remembrance Ceremony

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A remembrance ceremony honoring Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, is scheduled for 4:00pm January 12th at the Fort Campbell Family Readiness Center.

Remembrance ceremonies are held to honor fallen Soldiers deployed in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and are held monthly, as needed.

IED device kills Fort Campbell Soldier

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier was killed after an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol in Maquan, Zhari District, Afghanistan. Staff Sgt. Jamie C. Newman died of wounds on September 17th.

Newman was an Infantryman assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault.).

Staff Sgt. Jaime C. Newman, 27, of Richmond, VA entered the Army in July 2003 and arrived at Fort Campbell in March 2004.

Newman His awards and decorations include: Purple Heart Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; Army Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Service Medal; Iraqi Campaign Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Combat Infantryman Badge; Expert Infantryman Badge; Air Assault Badge; Driver and Mechanic Badge.

He is survived by his son Damarques J. Newman of Powhatan, VA; daughter Jaidan I. Cox of Richmond, VA; mother, Helen C. Newman of Richmond, VA; and father, Angel Ramos.

A memorial service will be held in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony. The next ceremony will be held October 13th at 4:00pm in the Family Readiness Center.

Fort Campbell Soldier killed in Kandahar Province

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchFort Campbell, KY, – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died September 17th, when his unit was attacked as he was serving as a gunner in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

Specialist Deangelo Barnell Snow, 22, of Saginaw, MI, was a quartermaster and chemical equipment repairer, assigned to the 526th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in January 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in July 2009.

His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; and the Combat Action Badge.

Snow is survived by his mother, Deloris S. Snow, of Saginaw, MI.

A memorial service will be held in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held October 6th at 4:00pm at the Family Readiness Center.

Fort Campbell Soldier killed while on patrol

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchFort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died September 16th, when his unit was attacked by small arms fire as he was on a routine patrol in Howzemadad, Afghanistan. 

Sergeant Aaron K. Kramer, 22, of Salt Lake City, was an Infantryman, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).  

He joined the Army in June 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in March 2007.

101st Airborne Soldier dies after being struck by IED

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchA Fort Campbell Soldier died September 9th after being struck by an improvised explosive device as he was leading a dismounted area reconnaissance in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

1st Lt. Todd W. Weaver, 26, of Hampton, VA, was an Infantry officer assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).  He joined the Army in October 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in April 2009.

His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Air Assault Badge; Expert Infantry Badge; Parachutists Badge and the Ranger Tab.

Weaver is survived by his wife, Emma Louise Elizabeth Weaver and daughter Kiley Honoria Nell Weaver, all of Clarksville, TN; father, Don A. Weaver and mother, Jeanne N. Weaver, both of Hampton, VA.

A memorial service will be held in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held October 6th at 4:00pm at the Family Readiness Center.
