Tip off is at 6:30pm CT.

Behind seven players in double figures and a lockdown second-half defensive performance, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team opened its 2018-19 campaign with a resounding 114-53 thumping of Oakland City in the Dunn Center.

Govs return from finals to face Top 20 Memphis

Austin Peay State University GovernorsMemphis, TN – Austin Peay and Memphis will be seeking more answers when they resume post-finals play, 7:00pm, Thursday, at the FedExForum.

For the Govs, they again will see how the club responds to a line up and rotation change created by the absence of preseason All-OVC forward Anthony Campbell, who suffered torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments, December 19th, in practice during a non-contact drill.

Edmondson again named OVC Newcomer of the Week

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – TyShwan Edmondson, who packaged a pair of 20-point outings against Lipscomb and Fontbonne last week, has been named Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.

TyShwan EdmondsonIt is the fourth time Edmondson has earned OVC Newcomer honors. In two games last week Edmondson scored a total of 41 points, including 21 in APSU’s Tuesday loss to Lipscomb and 20 in the Governors home win against Fontbonne, Saturday. It was the seventh and eighth times Edmondson has led the Govs in scoring this season.

In addition to his 21 points against Lipscomb, Edmondson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds while dishing out four assists. He also had four assists against Fontbonne while playing just 23 minutes.

Basketball Governors roll past Fontbonne

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University raced out to a 20-2 start and were never threatened as it defeated Division III Fontbonne, 112-52, Saturday night, in non-conference basketball action played at Dave Aaron Arena.

The victory improved the Governors to 6-5 overall while Fontbonne slips to 2-6.

Govs lineup to be reshuffled in aftermath of Campbell injury

Campbell injury forces lineup restructuring

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay will unveil a new starting lineup 7:30pm, Saturday, against Fontbonne.

It certainly is not what head coach Dave Loos had in mind, but those plans changed Wednesday when Preseason All-OVC forward Anthony Campbell, while working in a non-contact drill, crumpled to the court. Trainer Joni Johnson, when she arrived at Campbell’s side, almost knew immediately the news was not good. Tests and an MRI revealed Campbell had torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee. His season is finished.
