My Two-Cents with Hank BonecutterClarksville, TN – In a media career that spanned over 40 years, I’ve been blessed to have met a lot of incredible people.  Rock stars, celebrities, politicians and more. 

But what I’ve enjoyed the most is meeting people who’ve been dealt a bad hand, but have persevered and made the most of their life.  They refuse to let their circumstances dictate who they are.     

This is just that kind of story.

Three Tennessee State Parks Among the Top 100 Family Friendly Fishing and Boating Destinations

 

Paris Landing, Pickwick Landing and Tims Ford Recognized by Take Me Fishing

Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – Paris Landing State Park, Pickwick Landing State Park and Tims Ford State Park were listed among the Top 100 Family Friendly Places to Boat and Fish in the U.S., according to Take Me Fishing, whose first Top 100 list was released this month. Park and recreation areas in 24 states were represented in the Top 100.

“We are thrilled to have three of our great Tennessee State Parks on the list of family-friendly boating and fishing destinations in the country,” Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill said.

APSU Golf Team in second place after first round of Bearcat Invitational

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUHebron, KY – Golf course familiarity played huge dividends for Austin Peay State University men’s golf team Monday. The Govs shot a 3-under 285 in the first round of the Bearcat Invitational to sit in second place, one shot off the in action being played at the Traditions Golf Club.

APSU Governors Golf heads north to Badger Invitational

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team will head north to play in its third straight tournament in as many weeks as it competes in the 54-hole Badger Invitational, Sunday-Tuesday, at the University Ridge Golf Course.

This will be the first time the Govs have appeared in the Wisconsin-hosted event. They will be one of 14 teams in the tourney. In fact, this is the first home event hosted by the Badgers since holding the Big Ten championship in 2005.

APSU Lady Govs Golf in third place at Murray State Tournament

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Golf

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsMurray, KY – Freshman Jessica Cathey picked up where she left off and was Austin Peay State University’s low score after the first round of the Time Warner Classic, being played at Miller Memorial Golf Course.

Cathey, the Hixon native, was the Lady Govs’ only sub-80 round during the spring’s opening 18 holes, shooting a 78 to help lift to a third-place tie with Eastern Kentucky at 324. Host Murray State, playing on its home course, leads the way after shooting 312. Lipscomb is second at 321.

Swan Lake Golf Course reopens Today with new greens

 

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Swan Lake Golf Course will reopen to the public on Wednesday, August 24th, with new Championship Bermuda grass on each green.

The new Championshiop Bermuda grass greens at Swan Lake Golf Course.

Swan Lake Manager Jeff Vaughn described 14 of the 18 greens as being in excellent condition. “The other four greens are not in bad shape, they’re just not quite up to the same condition as the rest. They have a few thin spots, but they all will continue to grow in,” he said.

 On June 20th, the municipal golf course at 581 Dunbar Cave Road closed so a Texas company could began replacing the Bent Grass on the greens with the Championship Bermuda, which is more heat tolerant and widely used across the southern U.S.  «Read the rest of this article»
