Planters Bank Presents at the Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie is one of the most iconic and well-known love stories in cinematic history “Gone With The Wind”. This movie will be shown this Sunday, February 19th, 2017 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.

Based on the novel by Margaret Mitchell, this classic epic of the American South tells the story of Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh), the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner, from her romantic pursuit of the married Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard) to her marriage to Rhett Butler (Clark Gable).

“Brave” is about Princess Merida defying a custom that ends up bringing chaos to her kingdom. Merida uses her archery skills and bravery to undo the curse.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park draws large crowd at Liberty Park

 

Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – On Saturday, June 29th, Clarksville Parks and Recreation hosted Movies in the Park at Liberty Park for the first time. The movie for the night was “Lincoln” rated PG-13 and it drew a huge crowd to the park.

Abraham Lincoln made and appearance with his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. They greeted everyone that passed by and posed for pictures with attendees.

New this year to Movies in the Park- an added venue! The first half of the movie showings will take place at the Heritage Park Soccer fields with the second half taking place at the new outdoor amphitheater at Liberty Park.

Eighth Clarksville Writers’ Conference 2012: Marianne Walker Reveals the Love Story of Margaret Mitchell and John Marsh

 

Clarksville Writer's ConferenceClarksville, TN – Petite Marianne Walker scooped the entire literary world when she discovered primary material not available to the other three writers who had penned biographies of Margaret Mitchell. Starting out on a quest to seek information about John Marsh, a native of Maysville, Kentucky not far from Mrs. Walker’s home, she found a wealth of letters between Margaret Mitchell and John Marsh that his family members had saved.

According to amazon.com, Marianne Walker, a native of Monroe, Louisiana, is a retired professor of English and Philosophy at Henderson (Kentucky) Community College. Walker is the author of “Margaret Mitchell and John Marsh: The Love Story Behind Gone With the Wind” and “When Cuba Conquered Kentucky.” She has written for the New York Times and The Louisville-Courier-Journal Sunday Magazine. Walker and her husband, Ulvester, live in Henderson, Kentucky.

Gala Civil War Ball Benefits Fort Defiance

 

Friends of Fort DefianceClarksville, TN – Ladies in antebellum gowns featuring hoop skirts, frills and ruffles danced with gentlemen dressed in blue and gray uniforms. Sounds of the hammered dulcimer, fiddles and guitar accompanied the authentic dances of the Civil War era as the band, Red River Breeze played lilting reels and other music of the times.

Sponsored by the Friends of Fort Defiance, the annual Civil War Ball was held at the Emmanuel Center, 303 Fairview Lane, in Clarksville from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Saturday, January 14th. It was sponsored in part by the Clarksville Montgomery County Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee.
