Senator Marsha Blackburn Questions DHS-ICE $86.9 Million Hotel Contract After Questionable IRS Tax Filings
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) is demanding answers after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) awarded the Texas-based nonprofit Endeavors a $86.9 million contract to house about 1,200 illegal immigrant family members in hotel rooms.
Endeavors past IRS financial disclosures show that in 2018, it spent almost half of its funding on salaries.
In 2018, the nonprofit brought in over $38 million in contributions and grants.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) along with Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) introduced the End Child Trafficking Now Act.
During her recent trip to the Southern border, Senator Blackburn heard how drug cartels and transnational criminal gangs traffic and exploit migrant children to gain illegal entry into the country. Representative Lance Gooden (R-Texas) introduced companion legislation in the House of Representatives.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) along with Senators Mike Lee (R-Utah), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced the Stopping Border Surges Act, a bill to address loopholes in our immigration system which encourage vulnerable immigrant populations to take dangerous, illegal paths of entry into the United States.
“Migrants exploit our immigration system to illegally enter and stay in the United States,” said Senator Blackburn. “This process enriches cartels and coyotes that traffic illegal immigrants across the border.”
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) along with Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee slammed the Joe Biden administration’s self-induced border crisis and are pressing officials for information about how the administration is responding to the crisis amid the ongoing pandemic.
The Senators are demanding information about the extent of the crisis and the government’s response:
“Regardless of what the Biden Administration wants to call this current set of circumstances it has created, this surge in illegal immigration carries significant risks. It also imposes a heavy burden on public resources. Congress and the American people must have additional clarity about how DHS and HHS are addressing it,” the Senators wrote.
Washington, D.C. – On Sunday, March 21st, 2021 U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) visited the U.S./Mexico border in Arizona with local law enforcement officials.
“The law enforcement officials I spoke with in Arizona were in unanimous agreement – Joe Biden’s lax enforcement policies created a crisis at our southern border,” said Senator Blackburn.
“Joe Biden has emboldened drug cartels and human smugglers.”

Washington, D.C. – U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration continues promises for free health care and citizenship for illegal immigrants have unsurprisingly led to an influx of migrants overwhelming our southern border.
When our nation isn’t secure, every town becomes a border town, and every state becomes a border state. The current crisis has put our nation’s public health and safety on the line. I called out the rapidly worsening immigration crisis and discussed the hypocrisy of open-border policies.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R—Tenn.) introduced two amendments designed to prevent any future efforts by the Biden administration to limit the detention of illegal immigrants and to let those with violent criminal records threaten our communities.
Preventing Illegal Immigrants From Being Set Free
“The Joe Biden Administration is ignoring existing immigration law in their radical bid for amnesty and open borders,” said Senator Blackburn. “America cannot allow a return to the Obama-era immigration system that prevented Immigration and Customs Enforcement from enforcing the law. ICE must have the necessary funding to detain and house illegal immigrants once apprehended.”
Washington, D.C. – “As our country responds to the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, we are working rapidly to change the way we practice medicine to keep people safe,” Surgeon General Jerome Adams and CMS Administrator Seema Verma write in the Orlando Sentinel.
