Nashville, TN – Despite altered work procedures designed to increase safety, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is pushing ahead on construction projects across the state.
Reduced traffic over the past several weeks has also allowed TDOT crews to perform additional maintenance to interstates and state highways and make solid progress on projects in general across the state.
Chattanooga, TN – On Saturday, April 18th, 2020, the United States Marshals issued a be on the lookout (BOLO) for a silver Jeep Cherokee being driven by 32-year-old Mohamed Ali Saad of Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
Saad is a suspect in a Dearborn Heights, Michigan murder investigation. Tennessee State Trooper Kevin Hoppe was on I-75 when he observed the vehicle and followed it until additional troopers arrived to conduct a felony traffic stop. Saad was taken into custody without incident in Bradley County, Tennessee. Saad is currently being held for U.S. Marshals at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today said Chickamauga Lock construction will continue for the sixth consecutive year under the work plan released today by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which reflects Alexander’s priorities as chairman of the appropriations subcommittee overseeing the agency.
“This funding will keep construction of the new Chickamauga Lock on time and schedule and is the sixth consecutive year of federal funding for the project. This is great news for East Tennessee since it will help keep up to 150,000 trucks off I-75 and keep the cost of shipping goods low for manufacturers across the state,” Senator Alexander said.

Nearly a Third of IMPROVE Projects Underway Within First Year
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Transportation (TDOT) Commissioner John Schroer has announced that the state has awarded $297 million in contracts from bids accepted in December for crucial road and bridge construction projects – the first major awarding of IMPROVE Act projects and the largest such bidding process in TDOT’s history.
With increased transportation funds provided through the IMPROVE Act and TDOT’s federal budget, 72 new projects will be under construction across the state in the coming weeks.
Chattanooga, TN – On March 10th, 2017, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Chattanooga District Troopers Kevin Hoppe and Larry Fowler were working along I-75 South in Bradley County. They observed a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck commit a traffic violation around the 27 mile marker.
Troopers pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver Robert K. Miller, 45, of Lincoln Park, Michigan. While speaking with him, troopers could smell marijuana inside truck.
When asked about any contraband in the truck, Miller said he had a small amount of marijuana, but did not know what was in the boxes in the bed of the truck. Miller stated that they were loaded by a friend to be transported to Florida.

Nashville, TN – A man who was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top Ten Most Wanted list on Thursday was taken into custody tonight in Lexington, Kentucky.
Benjamin Scott Brewer, 39, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Lexington Police Department at the Hamburg Shopping Plaza in Lexington.
Brewer was wanted by the TBI, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Chattanooga Police Department stemming from an indictment handed down by the Hamilton County Grand Jury on August 3rd.
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has a new addition to the state’s ‘Top 10 Most Wanted’ list: Benjamin Scott Brewer of London, Kentucky.
Brewer is wanted by the Chattanooga Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the TBI stemming from an indictment by the Hamilton County Grand Jury this week, charging Brewer with six counts of Vehicular Homicide, four counts of Reckless Aggravated Assault, one count of DUI by Impairment of Narcotics, one count of Speeding, and one count of False Report of Duty Status.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says 2015 WWA Big Game Quota Hunts application period ends July 23rd
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is announcing that the application deadline is nearing for the 2015 Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Big Game Quota Hunts, the regular elk, youth elk, and WMA youth hunts. Entries must be submitted before midnight (CDT) on Wednesday, July 23rd.
The WMA hunting instruction sheet lists locations and dates for each of the quota hunts along with drawing rules and regulations.
Instruction sheets can be obtained and applications made for the hunts at any TWRA license agent, TWRA regional office or online at the TWRA website, www.tnwildlife.org. Mailed instruction sheets will not be processed into the drawing system. «Read the rest of this article»

National Work Zone Awareness Week April 7th-11th
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation is joining states across the nation to remind motorists of the dangers of speeding through work zones.
TDOT will spread that message statewide during National Work Zone Awareness Week (April 7th-11th) in an effort to improve safety in Tennessee’s interstate and highway construction and maintenance work zones.
