APSU Lady Govs head coach Carrie Daniels adds experienced Dean Walsh to coaching staff

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball head coach Carrie Daniels has announced the addition of Dean Walsh to her coaching staff for the 2013-14 season, effective Monday.

Walsh, who was an associate head coach at Gardner-Webb last season, fills the position left vacant by the departure of Jessica Grayson last fall and joins assistant coaches Brooke Armistead and Jerome Jackson on Daniels’ staff.

Clarksville Academy hires Jessica Grayson as Head Girls Basketball Coach

 

Clarksville AcademyClarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy is embracing a new direction for its girls’ basketball team. On September 10th, 2012, Head of Schools, Kay Drew, hired Jessica Grayson as the new Head Girls’ Basketball Coach. Grayson, originally from McMinnville, Tennessee, came to Clarksville in 2002 where she was a member of the Lady Govs OVC Championship team.

“When Jessica approached me that she was looking for a change, we couldn’t have been more excited. She will be an asset not only on the court, but in the classroom as well. Her faith and never ending support of her players is what made her a front runner for this position,” said Kay Drew.

Former Lady Govs basketball great Armistead returning to program as Assistant Coach

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – The greatest player in Austin Peay State University women’s basketball history is returning to her alma mater as an assistant coach.

Brooke Armistead, the Lady Govs’ all-time scoring leader who later had her jersey number retired, has been hired as an assistant women’s basketball coach by APSU head coach Carrie Daniels.

Postgame Lady Govs Skills Clinic a success

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team hosted more than 20 area youths for a free postgame skills clinic following the Lady Govs, 70-60, win against Eastern Kentucky, Sunday.

This is the second year for the two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference Tournament champion Lady Govs to host the free skills clinic. Open to all kids, eighth grade and under, participants registered prior to Sunday’s game and were joined on the floor by the Lady Govs following the win.

Daniels hires Midlick to third assistant position, Women’s Basketball

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsDavid Midlick, a former Austin Peay State University men’s basketball volunteer assistant coach, has returned to the Dunn Center as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team, head coach Carrie Daniels announced, Tuesday.

Midlick joins third-year assistant coach Laphelia Doss and recent hire Jessica Grayson on Daniels’ coaching staff for the 2010-11 campaign.

“I am excited to have David join our staff,” said Daniels. “David is a quality person and an excellent coach and adding him to this staff will only help this program move towards the goals we have set out for it. Bringing a third assistant coach is important to the direction we want to move this program. Former Lady Gov Grayson returns as assistant women’s basketball coach

 

Former Austin Peay State University forward Jessica Grayson will return to the women’s basketball program as an assistant coach for the 2010-11 campaign, head coach Carrie Daniels announced, Tuesday. She replaces former assistant coach Marcus Payne, who resigned in April after four seasons.

“I am very excited to be able to bring Jessica back to Austin Peay and have her be part of this program,” said Daniels.  “It was a long process and there was a tremendous amount of interest in this job, but after going through the resumes and interviews it was very clear the passion that Jessica has for Austin Peay clearly made her the right person for this job. The experience she brings will be very valuable.”

“Austin Peay meant so much to me as a student-athlete,” said Grayson. “And now to be given the opportunity to return is a tremendous honor. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity.  I have no doubt that I’m in the right place at suitable time for this position. «Read the rest of this article»
