Super Bowl XLVI thoughts

Clarksville, TN – Like many of you, I took Super Bowl Sunday as my chance to camp out in front of a TV with friends to watch the biggest sporting event of the year in America.

And while I nearly ate myself into a food coma (wings, dips, and tenderloin dominated our watch party menu), I still present to you my quick thoughts from Super Bowl XLVI. «Read the rest of this article»

The Final Horne: Is Tom Brady’s legacy hurt if New England Patriots lose in Super Bowl?

Clarksville, TN – We all know only two quarterbacks in Super Bowl history have won four of them and New England Patriot’s Tom Brady would join Pittsburgh Steelers’ Terry Bradshaw and San Francisco 49ers’ Joe Montana in that exclusive club if they win Super Bowl XLVI over the New York Giants. (It can’t be forgotten that defensive end Charles Haley is the only man to win five Super Bowls.)

But if the Patriots lose, Brady falls to 3-2 in Super Bowl games and join another not so wanting group of quarterbacks to lose at least two Super Bowls — Roger Staubach, John Elway and Fran Tarkenton, who both lost three, and the only man to lose four Super Bowls, Jim Kelly. «Read the rest of this article»

The Final Horne: Govs better with Fraley, Tebow vs. Brady, NBA is back, NFL picks and what’s going on this weekend in sports

Clarksville Sports NetworkCaught some of Austin Peay State University’s men’s basketball practice Thursday and they were really working hard. They are just a different and much better team with John Fraley back at center. He just makes everything go and allows Will Triggs and Melvin Baker to play their natural positions. Fraley doesn’t need to score that many points, but his rebounding and presence in the middle makes a huge difference.

The Govs have made some other moves by starting freshman Herdie Lawrence and moving TyShwan Edmondson to the bench and having him as the sixth man. But even then, everything just flows much better because Fraley is there.
