Group fills vacancies left by recent retirements, promotions

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan on Friday administered the oath to seven new Clarksville Fire Rescue firefighters who recently completed seven weeks of initial training.

The oath and pinning ceremony was attended by dozens of spouses, children and family members who cheered the firefighters into their new careers.

Clarksville Fire Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Ray Williams, left, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and Fire Chief Mike Roberts joined to welcome seven new firefighters to Clarksville Fire Rescue on Friday, October 5th. The new firefighters are Jonathan Crawford, Taylor Hall, Trevor Moore, Owen James, Abigail Pacolt, Blaide Smith and Dylan Stewart.

Clarksville Police report 22 vehicle crashes since 5:00am, Friday

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville Government offices were closed Friday because of the winter storm that brought ice, snow and hazardous travel conditions to Middle Tennessee.

But the City’s street, transportation and public safety departments remained fully staffed and engaged to provide services and protection to Clarksville residents.

Clarksville Street Department prepared for Winter Storm

 

Fleet of 30 trucks ready to spread salt, clear roadways

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Street Department on Thursday prepared its equipment and workforce to battle the wintry mix of ice and snow forecast to hit the area on Friday morning.

Scott Bibb, Street Department Operations Manager, said Thursday that the department has 24 dump trucks fitted with snow plows and salt boxes, and six lighter trucks with similar equipment, ready to hit the streets Friday morning, as necessary.

Clarksville Fire Rescue Chief Eugene Keel had lasting impact on Clarksville

 

Clarksville mourns passing of man who led Fire Department from 1985-99

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Fire Chief Gordon Eugene Keel, who served the citizens of Clarksville for 47 years as a firefighter and Fire Department leader, died Tuesday, October 24th, 2017, at his home in Port Royal, TN. He was 87.

Clarksville Fire Rescue Chief Mike Roberts, who was hired, trained and promoted into department leadership by Chief Keel, spoke with fondness and respect for his mentor on Wednesday.

City’s fire service grooms and develops talent from within

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Promotions of four longtime members of Clarksville Fire Rescue were celebrated Thursday with a pinning ceremony at Clarksville City Hall.

“It’s great to welcome these officers and their families, to congratulate them on their promotions and to thank them for the fine work they do to protect Clarksville residents and their property,” Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said. “I’m so proud of this group of officers who are moving up into top leadership roles in our fire service.”

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan lifts Burn Ban

 

Conditions improve after rainfall, cooler weather

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has lifted the burn ban that had been in effect for the City of Clarksville since October 31st.

The lifting of the ban means that reasonable outdoor open burning is once again permitted in all areas inside the city limits.
