NASA, ESA announce Astronauts for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-3 Mission to International Space Station

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – NASA and ESA (European Space Agency) have selected three astronauts to serve as crew members for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-3 mission to the International Space Station, which is expected to launch in the fall of 2021.

The trio will consist of NASA astronauts Raja Chari and Tom Marshburn, who will serve as commander and pilot, respectively, and ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer, who will serve as a mission specialist. A fourth crew member will be added at a later date, following a review by NASA and its international partners.

APSU art alumni Khari Turner catches eye of Hulu, Zendaya, The Roots

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) art alumni Khari Turner has had a summer he won’t soon forget.

He was one of 10 featured Black artists during Hulu’s Woke Art Fest on September 14th, 2020 spending an hour taking viewers on Hulu’s Instagram TV through his art process and New York City studio.

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The historic and accomplished 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) welcomed its 47th commanding general Thursday, February 14th, 2019, as Major General Andrew Poppas relinquished command to Major General Brian Winski.

Under Poppas’ leadership, the 101st Airborne Division deployed Soldiers to combat, contingency and peacekeeping missions around the world, to include Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan, dozens of training and partnership missions on the African and European continents, and hurricane and disaster relief missions in Puerto Rico and the United States. He spoke to the thousands of “Screaming Eagle” Soldiers, Veterans and community members who assembled for the ceremony at Fort Campbell’s parade field.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – A 16-man recruiting class will join Austin Peay State University’s baseball team for the 2017 season, the team announced in conjunction with the opening day of classes, Monday.

The Governors incoming class will be its largest in program history – topping the 14 added to the roster for the 2014 season.

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationPasadena, CA – On May 11th, a sealed capsule containing fungi and bacteria fell from the sky and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean. Microbiologist Kasthuri Venkateswaran could hardly wait to see what was inside it.

At NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, Venkateswaran, who goes by Venkat, studies microbial life — the wild world of organisms too small for us to see with our eyes. Among his many research endeavors, Venkat has leading roles on two microbial experiments that recently returned from the International Space Station.
