Austin Peay State University Lady GovsChattanooga, TN – Led by three top-10 finishers, Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team put together a strong showing at Friday’s Powerade Invitational, hosted by Chattanooga. The Lady Govs finished third out of seven teams.

Richards posts top-10 finish at Louisville meet

 

APSU Sports Information: APSU Cross Country

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsLouisville, KY – Sophomore Xiamar Richards finished eight to lead Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team to an impressive 11th-place finish at the massive Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic’s Blue Race, Saturday morning, at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

Richards posted the Lady Govs best finish at the Louisville race, completing the five-kilometer race in 18:23.07 to finish eighth in the 257-woman race. Junior transfer Chantelle Grey also added a top-50 finish, cross the line in 44th place with a time of 19:04.11.

Lady Govs confident entering GSU Cross Country Invitational

 

APSU Sports Information: APSU Cross Country

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsHampton, GA – Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team will face a new challenge in from a course they have never ran before at the Georgia State Cross Country Invite’s 9:45am, Saturday, five-kilometer race, at Nash Farm Battlefield.

The Lady Govs look to continue building from last week’s performance (a third-place team finish) that saw sophomore Xiamar Richards record the first victory for a Lady Govs runner since 2008.

Richards wins, Lady Govs third at UAH meet

 

APSU Sports: Women’s Cross Country

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsHuntsville, AL – Sophomore Xiamar Richards won the women’s five-kilometer race and Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team finished third at the Fleet Feet Sports/Earl Jacoby Memorial at Sharon Johnston Park.

Richards, who finished the course in a time of 19:11, became the first Lady Govs runner to win an individual title since Bertha Castillo won this race during the 2008 season. She finished the course 31 seconds ahead of her closest competitor.

Lady Govs impress at Old Timers Classic

 

APSU Women’s Cross Country

Austin Peay State University GovernorsBowling Green, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team put together a quality performance in its first effort at the five-kilometer distance, finishing fourth at the Old Timers Classic, Saturday morning at Kereiakes Park.

The Lady Govs finished in front of three of the four Ohio Valley Conference schools competing at the meet, which was scored in a dual format with each team’s placing compared to each of the other teams. Austin Peay defeated Morehead State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin while losing to league preseason favorite Eastern Kentucky.

Lady Govs still seek answers after sixth-place finish at PowerAde Invitational

 

APSU Women’s Cross Country

Austin Peay State University GovernorsFreshman Xiamar Richards finished in 19th place to lead Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the two-mile PowerAde Invitational hosted by Chattanooga, Friday night, at Moccasin Bend Race Course.

The Lady Govs finished with 153 points in the eight-team field. Host Chattanooga won its season-opening event with 41 points, just edging second-place Middle Tennessee which posted 43 points.

Richards, a Clarksville High School graduate, finished the two-mile course in 12:31, an APSU record for a freshman at that distance. Kennesaw State’s Mackenzie Howe won the individual crown with a time of 11:01.
