Tennessee Vols Football holds UTEP scoreless in 24-0 Win

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Sophomore running back Ty Chandler rushed 12 times for a career-best 158 yards and a touchdown, and Tennessee recorded its first shutout since 2016 in a 24-0 victory over UTEP on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium.
 
A crowd of 87,074 was on hand for the contest, including 1,067 evacuees of Hurricane Florence from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. They received complimentary tickets to the game from UT Athletics.

Austin Peay names Kassie Stanfill 10th Head Coach of APSU Softball

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Former Louisville pitching coach Kassie Stanfill has been named the 10th head coach in Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball history, athletics director Gerald Harrison announced, Friday.

Stanfill spent the past two seasons at her alma mater Louisville on the staff of legendary head coach Sandy Pearsall, who retired in June after starting the program in 2000. She replaces Rodney Delong, who resigned after the 2018 season to take the head coaching job at North Texas.

Austin Peay State University to search Nationally for next Softball Coach

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) athletics department announced Monday, July 8th, 2018 that it will conduct a national search for its head softball coaching position.

The search begins after Rodney DeLong departed June 13th to accept a similar position at North Texas and assistant coaches Dillon Bryant and Jamie Allred departed to join DeLong at North Texas.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee will play Southern Miss on Saturday, November 4th at Neyland Stadium in the Vols’ 94th Homecoming game. Kickoff is slated for 6:30pm CT on SEC Network.

Tom Hart (play-by-play) and Jordan Rodgers (analyst) will be in the booth and Cole Cubelic will report from the sidelines. Vol Network radio affiliates will have a live audio broadcast with Bob Kesling, Tim Priest and Brent Hubbs. Sirius Channel 134 and XM Channel 191 will also carry a live audio broadcast.

Tennessee Vols roll over Tennessee Tech 55-0

Tennessee posted its largest margin of victory since a 63-7 victory over Western Kentucky in 2009.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN Tennessee secured bowl eligibility for the third straight season with a commanding 55-0 victory over Tennessee Tech on Saturday before a crowd of 98,343 at Neyland Stadium in the program’s 93rd homecoming game.

The Volunteers (6-3) piled up 471 yards of total offense, including a season-best 379 yards in the first half and recorded their first shutout since a 24-0 victory in last year’s homecoming game on November 14th against North Texas. The win was Tennessee’s largest shutout victory since a 65-0 triumph over Vanderbilt on Nov. 26, 1994 and helped the Vols improve to 6-0 all-time against Tennessee Tech.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee starts a three-game homestand on Saturday when it plays host to in-state foe Tennessee Tech at 3:00pm CT in the 93rd homecoming game on Rocky Top.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast on SEC Network Alternate with Taylor Zarzour (play-by-play), Jordan Rodgers (analyst) and Dawn Davenport (sideline) calling the action. SEC Network Alternate is typically listed adjacently to the SEC Network in your cable or satellite channel guide. Saturday will mark the second time this season that ESPN College GameDay will be on-site for a Tennessee contest. The College GameDay crew of Rece Davis, Samantha Ponder, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack was in Bristol, Tennessee, two weeks ago for the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol featuring the Vols and Virginia Tech.
