APSU Baseball falls to Southern Illinois late rally, 3-2

APSU BaseballCarbondale, IL – Starter Tyler Thompson supplied five strong innings, but the Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball team surrendered a one-run lead late in a 3-2 nonconference loss to Southern Illinois, Tuesday, March 12th at Itchy Jones Stadium.

Thompson stormed out of the gates, needing just 13 pitches to get through the first three innings allowing no runs and one hit.

APSU Baseball falls to Eastern Kentucky at home, 8-5

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – A late rally came up just short as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team dropped the final game of its Ohio Valley Conference series to Eastern Kentucky, 8-5, Sunday at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Despite the loss, Austin Peay (21-16, 11-7 OVC) won its fifth OVC series and moved into third place in the league standings.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – The final game of the Austin Peay State University’s baseball team three-game Ohio Valley Conference series against Eastern Kentucky will be scheduled to start at 1:00pm, Sunday as rain saturated the Clarksville area Saturday morning with more rain in the forecast.

The Stephen Huff Lung Cancer Awareness day scheduled for Saturday will now be held Saturday, April 28th as part of the series with UT Martin.

Austin Peay State University Baseball falls to Tennessee Tech Sunday, 12-6

APSU BaseballCookeville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team rallied to take an early lead but could not hold on in a 12-6 Ohio Valley Conference loss to Tennessee Tech, Sunday afternoon, at Bush Stadium.

Austin Peay (14-11, 5-4 OVC) took advantage of a Tennessee Tech to grab the lead in the third inning. First baseman Parker Phillips gave the Govs the lead with a sacrifice fly and designated hitter Alex Sala added a run-scoring single for a 4-2 lead.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team came back from one deficit but could not fend off a second offensive outburst in an 11-5 loss to Indiana State, Sunday at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay (8-3) scored the game’s first run when catcher Parker Phillips‘ doubled to drive in second baseman Garrett Giovannelli. However, the Govs would leave the bases loaded as Sycamores starter Tyler Whitbreak struck out two batters after the double.

Parker Phillips two run homer gives APSU Baseball 5-3 win over Notre Dame

APSU BaseballSouth Bend, IN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team starting pitcher Zach Neff struck out a career-high eight batters and first baseman Parker Phillips supplied a go-ahead two-run home run as the Governors secured a 5-3 victory against Notre Dame, Sunday afternoon at Frank Eck Stadium.

Austin Peay (23-27) had two home runs in the contest, both supplying a lead.

The Govs first travel to Lipscomb for a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest before heading back into the Bluegrass State for a 5:00pm, Wednesday matchup with Western Kentucky.

Murray State scored the series-opening victory, 8-6, before the Govs claimed an 8-5 victory in the nightcap.

APSU Baseball records nine hits but succumbs to late rally by Indiana State

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – It was another nine-run night for Austin Peay State University’s baseball team, but Indiana State rallied late to hand it a 12-9 loss, Sunday night, in the final game of the Riverview Inn Governors Challenge at Raymond C. Hand Park.  

The opening three innings were a quiet affair with the two teams scoring just three runs. The Govs held a 2-1 lead after those three frames thanks to first baseman Dre Gleason‘s two-run home run in the second inning.
