Tennessee Titans defeat New York Jets 38-13; Jake Locker leaves game with hip injury

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans beat the New York Jets Sunday afternoon at LP Field 38-13. The win is overshadowed by the injury to quarterback Jake Locker.

Early in the third quarter, Locker goes back to pass and just gets the ball off before getting hit by Jet’s defensive linemen Muhammad Wilkerson, then gets hit by defensive end Quinton Coples. Lockers goes to the ground grabbing his right hip with 11:14 left in the third quarter. He gave the fans a thumbs up as he was carted off the field.

Tennessee Titans shine on both sides of the ball in 27-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans defense had something to prove after last week’s performance against the Cincinnati Bengals. And prove it they did, holding the vaulted Atlanta Falcons offense led by Matt Ryan to only field goals in the first half. In fact, the Titans were able to sack Ryan five times.

The Tennessee offense started slow on their first two possessions before Jake Locker but together a 5 play scoring drive capped by a 7 yard pass to Nate Washington in the back of the end zone. This got the Titans going and they never let off the gas going on to beat the Falcons 27-16.

Tennessee Titans sign Contract Extension with Jason McCourty

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans and Jason McCourtyhave agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension that will keep the veteran cornerback with the club through the 2017 season.

McCourty, a sixth-round pick by the Titans in 2009, has emerged into one of Tennessee’s defensive leaders.  In 42 career games (24 starts), the athletic and community-minded McCourty has totaled 182 tackles (141 solo), four interceptions, one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 16 special teams tackles, providing a stabilizing force in the secondary. «Read the rest of this article»

Austin Peay Governors Baseball lose to the Memphis Tigers

Austin Peay State University GovernorsMemphis, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team led for six innings but could not hold on as the Memphis Tigers won in walk-off fashion, 3-2, Tuesday night at FedEx Park.

Memphis (6-10) rallied from a 2-0 deficit, tying the game in the sixth, before piecing together the game-winning rally in the ninth.

Tennessee Titans Travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (7-6) begin a three-game stretch against teams from the AFC South this week, as they travel to take on the Indianapolis Colts (0-13). Kickoff at Lucas Oil Stadium (capacity 63,000) is scheduled for noon CST on Sunday, December 18th.

This will be the second of two yearly meetings between the Titans and Colts. In the first matchup at LP Field on October 30th, the Titans turned a pair of interceptions into two touchdowns by Nate Washington en route to a 27-10 victory. Tennessee’s other touchdown came after Patrick Bailey blocked a Colts punt and Jason McCourty recovered the ball in the end zone.

Despite their loss last week against the New Orleans Saints, the Titans remain in the playoff chase with three games remaining on the schedule. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:05 pm CST on Sunday, November 6th.

This week’s matchup renews a rivalry with one of the Titans’ most recurring opponents over the last five decades. The two clubs began their series in 1968 and coexisted in the former AFC Central Division from 1970 through 2001. In total, they have played 72 times, including playoffs, with the Titans holding a 39-32-1 edge.
