TWRA reports Permits for Peregrine Falcon Draw to be Increased to Five in 2018

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The numbers of permits to be allowed for the taking of peregrine falcons to be used in falconry has increased from one to five in 2018 as announced by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The 2018 application period for the trapping of Peregrine falcons to be used in falconry begins in July and will end on August 15th. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will conduct a draw to be held on August 29th with five permits to be awarded.

TWRA 2017 Application Period Underway for Peregrine Falcon Trapping for Falconry Usage

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The 2017 application period for the trapping of a peregrine falcon to be used in falconry is underway, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced.

The TWRA will award the one permit to the winner of a draw to be held on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017. Falconers may go to TWRA’s website by clicking here for the print-ready application and also view the requirements. Resident and non-resident master and general falconers are eligible for participation in the draw. Completed applications must be postmarked by Wednesday, August 9th.

TWRA announces 2015 Peregrine Falcon Take Permit Winners

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Two 2015 permits for the trapping of a peregrine falcon to be used in falconry has been awarded, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced.

Bradley County resident Doug Boucher and Greg Seaton of North Little Rock, AR are the winners of the Tennessee Peregrine Falcon Permit Draw. The drawing was held in Nashville in late August.

Only general or master class resident and non-resident falconers were eligible to participate in the drawing.

Tennesse Governor Bill Haslam and Senator Lamar Alexander Name Rocky Fork as Proposed Site for Tennessee’s 55th State Park

 

Tennessee State Parks 75th AnniversaryErwin, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Bob Martineau joined members of the Tennessee General Assembly, local elected officials and members of the community for a special ceremony announcing the future conveyance of more than 2,000 acres in the Rocky Fork area of Unicoi County, that will eventually become Tennessee’s 55th state park.

The property is part of the 10,000-acre tract acquired by The Conservation Fund and U.S. Forest Service in 2008, and will be conveyed to the state of Tennessee in the coming months.

Peregrine Falcon captured in Tennessee

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The first Peregrine falcon has been trapped in Tennessee in more than 50 years on the banks of the Mississippi River by a Carroll County resident. Tennessee was awarded one permit by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service allowing the trapping of one Peregrine falcon for the use in falconry beginning in 2011 in selected West Tennessee counties.

Brian Brown, of Clarksburg, made the historic capture on a Friday afternoon at around 2:30pm. He used a Dho-ghazza net and lured the Peregrine he has named “Belle.” He brought the bird to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in Nashville for the proper processing.

Tennessee Awarded Permit to allow trapping of one Peregrine Falcon for use in Falconry

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – This year, for the first time, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has awarded Tennessee one permit allowing the trapping of one Peregrine falcon for the use in falconry.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will award this permit to the winner of a draw to be held on Wednesday, August 31st, 2011.
