Tennessee Vols rally to beat Kentucky 82-78, Advance to SEC Championship

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – Facing an eight-point deficit with three minutes left, the No. 8 Tennessee Vols rallied in the final moments to down No. 4 Kentucky, 82-78, in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament at Bridgestone Arena.
 
For the second straight year, the Vols (29-4, 15-3 SEC) have advanced to the tournament championship game. The Big Orange will take on No. 22 Auburn in the final on Sunday at 12:00pm CT (ESPN).
 
Tennessee’s 29 wins stand as the second-most in program history. Only the 2007-08 Volunteers logged more victories (31).

#8 Tennessee Vols takes on #4 Kentucky in SEC Tournament Semifinals

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – The No. 8 Tennessee Vols is set for a rematch of last year’s tournament championship, taking on No. 4 Kentucky in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Saturday, March 16th.

The game will tip at approximately 2:30pm CT and will be televised on ESPN and can also be viewed online through WatchESPN. Fans can listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate to hear Bob Kesling and Bert Bertelkamp describing the action.

Tennessee (28-4, 15-3 SEC) claimed the No. 3 seed in the tournament and earned a double bye.

#7 Tennessee Vols dismantle #4 Kentucky at home, 71-52

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – In front of the sellout Thompson-Boling Arena crowd, the No. 7 Tennessee Vols powered past No. 4 Kentucky 71-52 to move into a two-way tie for first place in the SEC.

It was the largest loss for the Wildcats in conference play since February 4th, 2017 when they lost by 22 points to Florida.

Backed by a career-high performance from Jordan Bone, the Vols (26-3, 14-2 SEC) maintained a perfect home record against the Wildcats (24-5, 13-3 SEC) in the Rick Barnes era while extending their home winning streak to 25 games.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsLexington, KY – Playing its best ball of the season, 15th-ranked Tennessee heads to Rupp Arena on Tuesday night, February 6th for a showdown with rival Kentucky. The game is set to tip at 6:00pm CT and will be televised on ESPN for “Super Tuesday.”

The Vols (17-5, 7-3 SEC) enter the contest as winners of their last five games and eight of the last nine. During the stretch, defense has been the key for UT’s success. Tennessee has held its opponents to under 65 points in each of the last seven outings and now ranks 6th in defensive efficiency in the KenPom rankings.

Tennessee Vols hold off Kentucky for 76-65 win at Thompson-Bowling Arena

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TNAdmiral Schofield scored 20 points and recorded nine rebounds to lead the 23rd-ranked Tennessee Volunteers to a 76-65 victory over No. 17 Kentucky on Saturday night at a sold out Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
The Vols (10-4, 1-2 SEC) shot 54 percent from the field in the second half while using a strong defensive effort to outscore the Wildcats (12-3, 2-1 SEC) in the final period, 47-28, and earn their first conference victory of the season. Grant Williams stepped up offensively down the stretch, scoring 16 of his 18 points in the second half on 7-for-9 shooting.
