Clarksville, TN – Teal Young knocked down five 3s on his way to a game-high 23 points, Tuesday, February 24th, at William Workman Gymnasium, to lead Clarksville High School to a 70-48 Region 5-AAA Tournament quarterfinal victory over Gallatin High School.
It was back-to-back 3s midway through the opening quarter by Young that gave the Wildcats (15-11) a 10-9 lead after Gallatin had scored six straight points to take its biggest lead of the game, 9-4.
Clarksville, TN – After a week of weather delays, and the Region 5-AAA Basketball Tournament looming, the District 10-AAA Basketball Tournament championship and consolation games have been cancelled.
With the cancellation, Rossview High School girls basketball team will be declared the tournament champions, followed by Henry County High School, Clarksville High School and West Creek High finishing second through fourth place.
West Creek (37-13), the number-one seed out of District 10-AAA lost to Beech High School (34-7) in five games, 21-25, 25-16, 25-10, 21-25 and 15-11; while Clarksville High (16-7) – the number-two seed from 10-AAA lost in four games to Portland High School (31-16) by scores of 18-25, 25-20, 25-13 and 25-10.
Clarksville, TN – West Creek High School’s volleyball team picked up its first District 10-AAA tournament title in the program’s history October 9th, but had to fight off a determined Clarksville High School squad in a five-game thriller by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-15, 23-25 and 15-12.
The Lady Coyotes (37-12) had rolled through the district during the regular season, going 14-0 and only being forced into a five-set match only twice in those matchups, but found themselves down 1-0 to the Lady Wildcats (16-6) and trailing 22-14 in the second game – with their tournament title chances slipping away.
Clarksville, TN – Top-seeded West Creek High School dropped its opening game to Rossview High School, in the District 10-AAA tournament semifinals October 8th, but rallied to defeat the Lady Hawks 22-25, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-18 to reach the tournament’s championship game.
The Lady Coyotes (36-12) jumped out to a 6-1 lead in Game 1 over the Lady Hawks behind three aces from Kayla Ford and two kills from Shayla Smith, but third-seeded Rossview (17-15) responded by scoring 12 of the next 13 points to take a 13-7 advantage.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s volleyball team got out to a quick start, October 8th in its District 10-AAA semifinal match versus Henry County High School, but had to grind out its final two game victories in coming away with a 25-10, 21-25, 25-21, 25-17 victory over the Lady Patriots.
After losing to Henry County (11-5) just over a week ago, Clarksville High (16-5) – the tournament’s second-seed — exploding out of the gates for an 8-1 lead in Game 1 and extend that out to as much as 13 points, 16-3.
Clarksville, TN – It was déjà vu all over again, September 15th at Swan Lake Golf Course, with the Rossview High School’s girls golf team and Clarksville High’s boys golf team repeating as the District 10-AAA tournament title winners.
The Lady Hawks would edge the Clarksville High Lady Wildcats by three shots (149-152) to not only win the tournament title, but remain undefeated on the season.
“I was having to be a scorer on another hole, so I wasn’t with my girls and I was really stressing out,” Rossview head coach Phil Burkhart said. “I didn’t exactly know we stood, but I heard it was pretty much even, but we had a stroke or two more lead than I thought.
Clarksville, TN – Rossview High School’s Kevin Kane pitched and hit his way into the programs baseball lore on May 15th, as he pitched and hit the Hawks past District 10-AAA regular-season and tournament champion Clarksville High School to win the school’s first Region 5-AAA title, 5-1.
With the victory, Rossview (24-12-1) will host Ravenwood High School May 16th in one half of the TSSAA Sectional tournament, while Clarksville High will travel to Brentwood High School in the other Sectional matchup. Both games start at 7:00pm.
Clarksville, TN – Rossview High School’s soccer team got a goal from Marco Rodriquez in the 14th minute of overtime, May 13th, to cap a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Station Camp High School, in the opening round of the Region 5-AAA tournament.
With the victory, Rossview (14-3-4) has earned the school’s first berth into the TSSAA Sectional tournament since the 2005 season, while also earning the right to host Mt. Juliet High School at 7:00p.m. on May 15th in the Region 5-AAA finals — the first time the Hawks have hosted the region finals in school history.
Clarksville, TN – Trailing for the first time this season with its ace Donny Everett on the mound, May 12th in the opening round of the Region 5-AAA tournament, Clarksville High School’s baseball team rallied to defeat the Beech High School Buccaneers 5-3 to reach the regional finals.
The victory also earns the Wildcats (29-5) a berth into the May 16th Sectional Tournament, where a win puts them into the TSSAA State Tournament field.
But it didn’t look early on like it may be the Wildcats night, with the Buccaneers (18-18) putting up single runs in both the first and third innings off Everett (11-0) – both coming off doubles by Isaac Robertson, driving in Jared Knight in the first and Jesse McKay in the third.
