Clarksville, TN – First it was Midnight Magic to greet the start of basketball practice October 15th and then later it was Reigning Red.
But with the change in NCAA men’s rules to basically mirror the women’s side, October 15th is no longer the starting date for college basketball practice start.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University basketball fans have not missed out on “Midnight Magic or Reigning Red,” as the two teams have hosted in the past.
This season, the athletics department, along with APSU’s Alumni Relations office and Wendy’s of Clarksville, is hosting its Peay Basketball Premiere, Thursday, at the Dunn Center.
Clarksville, TN – TyShwan Edmondson scored 13 points to rally the Black team past the White team, 46-42, Friday night in the annual Reigning Red, Austin Peay State University’s basketball tipoff.
The Lady Govs did not scrimmage, Friday night as the team has been limited by injuries in the preseason. In addition, juniors Meghan Bussabarger and Kaitlyn Hill were excused to attend to family matters back in their respective home states.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s basketball team officially will open practice, 8:00pm, Friday, for its annual Reigning Red in Dave Aaron Arena.
Reigning Red not only will feature the traditional Wendy’s Chili dinner and contests, it will also see the 2011-12 Governors and Lady Govs basketball teams introduced to the Governors and Lady Govs fans.
The Governors are coming off a 20-14 campaign that saw them finished tied for second in the Ohio Valley Conference race and play in the College Basketball Invitational.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball senior guard Whitney Hanley has earned College Sports Madness Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, the website announced Friday.
Hanley, who was a second-team All-OVC selection last season, was named to the second-team in the website’s preseason squads. She averaged 12.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game last season. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University officially tips off basketball season at 8:00pm, Friday night, when Wendy’s of Clarksville presents “Reigning Red,” following the Lady Govs Ohio Valley Conference volleyball match, in the Dunn Center.
For the fourth consecutive year, Wendy’s is set to host the Governors Club and Austin Peay basketball season-ticket holders for an informal meet-and-greet with the Govs and Lady Govs, beginning at 6:30pm, on the third level.
APSU Women’s Basketball
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team got a two-week checkup as it held a scrimmage during Friday night’s “Reigning Red” festivities at the Dunn Center.
The Lady Govs, who started practice October 3rd, saw its two centers – junior Jasmine Rayner and sophomore Kaitlyn Hill – had impressive outings. Rayner was 4-for-5 from the field and scored nine points. Hill also made 4-of-5 field goals and finished with eight points and three assists.
APSU Men’s Basketball
Clarksville, TN – The Black team shot 10 of 15 from the floor as it rolled past the White team, 23-14, Friday night, during Reigning Red, Austin Peay State University’s annual basketball tipoff event.
Balanced scoring was the key as newcomer Melvin Baker, a junior forward, scored seven points to lead the way while senior guard Caleb Brown and freshman Thomas Greer added five points. Greer also had a game-high three assists.
APSU Women’s Volleyball
Clarksville, TN – Three of the Ohio Valley Conference’s top four teams will be in town this weekend when the second-place Austin Peay State University volleyball team hosts a pair of league matches. First up is a 6:00pm, Friday contest against league-leader and unbeaten Morehead State. The Lady Govs will then host fourth-place Eastern Kentucky in a 2:00pm, Saturday outing. Admission to all contests is free.
Austin Peay (15-4, 6-2 OVC) returns home after a tough road swing last week, as it played to five sets in both matches. The Lady Govs fell at Eastern Kentucky, October 5th, before bouncing back with a victory at Tennessee State, last Saturday. Both of Austin Peay’s conference losses have come on the road this season, but they are unbeaten (4-0) at the Dunn Center.
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Athletics may not have a bigger weekend than the upcoming one. With women’s volleyball, football and women’s soccer all hosting Ohio Valley Conference opponents and the 2010-11 Govs and Lady Govs basketball teams taking the floor for Reigning Red, Peay fans have plenty on the slate.
The weekend kicks off with a 6:00pm, Friday, volleyball match when the Lady Govs host OVC leader Morehead State. The Lady Govs are third in the OVC race, while the Eagles are unbeaten in league play at the top of the pack. There will not be a bigger OVC volleyball match at the Dunn Center this season.
