APSU Athletics’s Sara Robson, Jordan Harmon receive new titles

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison has announced that two senior staff have had title changes to reflect new roles heading into 2019-20.

Sara Robson has been elevated to Associate Director of Athletics for Operations, while Jordan Harmon has been named Assistant Director of Athletics for Development, reflecting his hand-in-hand work with the athletics department.

“As we move in to year two it is important to recognize these staff members for their outstanding contributions to the success and the future of Austin Peay Athletics,” Harrison said.

ASPU announces Jessica Cathey as new head Women’s Golf Coach

 

APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – On Thursday, June 13th, 2019, Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrsion announced that women’s golf legend Jessica Cathey is coming home.

Cathey, a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection and two-time individual medalist for the Govs in her record-shattering senior campaign, has agreed to become the sixth head coach in APSU women’s golf history.

Austin Peay State University Govs hire Marcus Hilliard to head External Affairs

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Marcus Hilliard, who most recently served Assistant Athletics Director for Administration at UCF, has been hired as Austin Peay State University’s Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs, athletics director Gerald Harrison announced this week.

Hilliard will join the athletics department and will have primary oversight over the department’s external units: Govs Club, Communications, Marketing and Fan Experience, Ticketing, Video and Social Media. In addition, he will provide oversight for Baseball, Band, and Cheer teams. He will also be the department’s primary contact for Peak Sports Management – the department’s partner for corporate sponsorships.

Austin Peay names Kassie Stanfill 10th Head Coach of APSU Softball

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Former Louisville pitching coach Kassie Stanfill has been named the 10th head coach in Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball history, athletics director Gerald Harrison announced, Friday.

Stanfill spent the past two seasons at her alma mater Louisville on the staff of legendary head coach Sandy Pearsall, who retired in June after starting the program in 2000. She replaces Rodney Delong, who resigned after the 2018 season to take the head coaching job at North Texas.

APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – After sharing the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Golf Coach of the Year honor with her predecessor, Amy McCollum has had the interim tag removed and been named head coach of the Austin Peay State University women’s golf program.

McCollum and former head coach Sara Robson shared the Coach of the Year honor after a season which included eight top-five finishes and a win at the 2017 Buick Town and Country Invitational in Nashville.

2017-18 Top-10 — No. 4: APSU has an abundance of OVC honors

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Usually in Austin Peay State  University’s yearly top-10 countdown, APSU takes special care to identify each individual who was named Ohio Valley Conference Coach, Player, Freshman or other comparable “Of the Year” honor for their respective sport, because that’s a big deal and needs to be recognized as such.

But, well… there were too many this year, so they all get to go here.

Between coaches and players, 14 members of the Austin Peay extended family earned one of the top honors for their respective sport in 2017-18, including five Freshman of the Year honors.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Governors Athletic Department had great 2017-18 School Year

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – With baseball and track and field putting a wrap on their respective season’s this past week, Austin Peay State University’s athletic department saw the end to a very successful 2017-18 school year.

Overall, the department posted a combined win-loss record of 200-167-3 over the school year, with 10 of the 16 teams (baseball, men’s basketball, football, men’s golf, women’s basketball, women’s golf, soccer, softball, women’s tennis and volleyball) finishing with .500-or-better records.

APSU Women's GolfMuscle Shoals, AL – In a first in Ohio Valley Conference history, a pair of coaches from the same program shared OVC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year honors, with current head coach Amy McCollum and former head coach Sara Robson combining to earn Coach of the Year accolades from their peers around the league.

This was announced Monday at the annual postseason awards banquet following the opening round of OVC Tournament competition, and it was not the end of accolades for Austin Peay.
