Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – Productive offensive outings from freshmen Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer were not enough Saturday, as the Tennessee men’s basketball team fell to No. 6 Alabama in the SEC Tournament semifinals at Bridgestone Arena, 73-68.
 
Tennessee’s SEC All-Freshman Team duo of Johnson and Springer led the way offensively for the Vols (18-8) with 20 and 18 points, respectively. Santiago Vescovi added 11 points with three made 3-pointers.

Tennessee Vols Basketball downs Florida 78-66 in SEC Tournament

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – A year to the day after not being able to take the court in the second round of the 2020 SEC Tournament, the Tennessee basketball team used a balanced offensive effort and a single-game, school-record nine blocks from senior Yves Pons to push past Florida, 78-66, Friday at Bridgestone Arena.

The win advanced Tennessee to the SEC Tournament semifinals for the third consecutive conference tournament.

The Vols were led by a stat-sheet-stuffing performance from back-to-back SEC All-Defensive Teamer Pons, who tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, and nine blocks.

Tennessee Vols Basketball runs past Florida at Thompson-Boling Arena Saturday, 65-54

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – A balanced offensive effort and a momentum-shifting, second-half run propelled the Tennessee men’s basketball team past Florida, 65-54, on Senior Day inside Thompson-Boling Arena. 

The win secured the No. 4 seed and a first-round bye for the Volunteers at next week’s SEC Tournament.

The Vols (17-7, 10-7 SEC) punished the Gators (13-8, 9-7 SEC) on the boards, out-rebounding Florida 38-29 overall and 18-9 on the offensive glass.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball falls to South Carolina in SEC Tournament, 67-52

 

UT Lady VolsGreenville, SC – No. #14/16 Tennessee Women’s Basketball, the No. 3 seed, outscored second-seeded #7/7 South Carolina 13-8 in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t overcome a 29-point first quarter by the No. 2 seed Gamecocks, falling 67-52 in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Saturday evening.
 
Redshirt-junior Jordan Walker and sophomore Jordan Horston were the high scorers for UT (16-7), each finishing with 11 points. Senior Rennia Davis and sophomore Tamari Key were the top rebounders for the Big Orange, grabbing six apiece.

UT Lady VolsGreenville, SC – No. 14/16 Tennessee (16-6, 9-4 SEC), the No. 3 seed, has advanced to the semifinal round of the SEC Tournament and will meet No. 7/7 South Carolina (20-4, 14-2 SEC), the No. 2 seed, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

No. 1 seed Texas A&M and No. 4 seed Georgia will meet in the other semifinal round match-up at 3:00pm CT on Saturday.

The Tennessee Lady Vols will be making their first appearance in the SEC semifinal round since 2016, when they did so in Jacksonville, FL, before falling to Mississippi State, 58-48.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 14/16 Tennessee women’s basketball (15-6, 9-4 SEC), which earned the No. 3 seed by virtue of its third-place regular-season finish, will open play on Friday night at the SEC Tournament in Greenville, SC.

The Lady Vols will face the winner of Thursday’s game between sixth-seeded #13/13 Arkansas (19-7, 9-6 SEC) and No. 11 seed Ole Miss (10-10, 4-10 SEC) at approximately 7:15pm CT on Friday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

In head-to-head match-ups this season, UT defeated (then) No. 13/13 Arkansas, 88-73, on January 7th in Knoxville and erased a 13-point deficit to beat Ole Miss in Knoxville, 68-67, on January 28th.

#20/#21 Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball rolls over Auburn, 88-54

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – The No. 20/21 Tennessee women’s basketball closed out the regular season with a dominant win over Auburn on Sunday, racing to an 88-54 victory in Thompson-Boling Arena on Senior Day.
 
With the triumph, Tennessee (15-6, 9-4 SEC) finished third in league play and locked up the No. 3 seed for next week’s SEC Tournament. It is UT’s highest seeding at the tourney since 2015, when the Big Orange carried a No. 2 tag into the event.
