Nashville Sounds win one lose one against Colorado Springs Sky Sox Friday Night

 

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO  The first-place Nashville Sounds (61-53) split their doubleheader with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Friday night at Security Service Field, winning 2-1 with a rally in the opener before getting blanked, 1-0, in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Sounds put together a late rally that was capped off by Jason Rogers’ game-winning home run to defeat the Sky Sox, 2-1.

Rogers’ solo home run, his fourth of the season and first on the road, was just fair over the left-field wall and broke the 1-1 tie.

Nashville Sounds edged by Colorado Springs in home opener 5-2

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN The Nashville Sounds opened their homestand on the short end of a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Monday evening at Greer Stadium.

Former Sound Chris Capuano (1-0) twirled a solid outing for the visitors, fanning 11 batters over seven innings while holding Nashville to a pair of runs on four hits to earn the win.

PCL mid-season All-Star Donovan Hand made his first start of the season for Nashville and took a no-decision after allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits in four frames of action.

Sounds Pitcher Brad Mills Fans Career-High 13 Batters

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN Left-hander Brad Mills struck out a career-high 13 batters over eight scoreless frames to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Thursday evening at Greer Stadium.

Mills (4-0), who retired his first 11 batters in order and 17 of his first 18 overall, lowered his ERA to 1.76 with the outstanding outing, his longest of the season. He scattered three hits and did not walk a batter in his 101-pitch start.

Nashville Sounds win streak ends with 12-3 loss to Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were unable to complete a four-game sweep of the Iowa Cubs in Monday afternoon’s finale, losing to the visiting I-Cubs by a 12-3 final.

Trailing all game, the Sounds battled back to within two runs of Iowa in the eighth inning, but a seven-run outpouring from Cubs’ hitters in the ninth sealed Nashville’s fate.

Nashville Sounds drop double-header to Colorado Springs Sky Sox

 

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, Colorado – The Nashville Sounds never held a lead in either game of the team’s doubleheader against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field Saturday evening, losing the opener 6-2 and the nightcap by a 4-2 margin.

In game one, the Sky Sox snapped a seven-game skid by hanging a 6-2 loss on the Sounds.

Colorado Springs right-hander Chris Volstad (6-4) worked a seven-inning complete game to earn his first victory since June. The veteran authored a quality start, holding the Sounds to two runs on seven hits in his seven frames, and helped his own cause with a go-ahead RBI single in the contest.

Nashville Sounds blank Tucson Patres in series finale 3-0

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds held the visiting Tucson Padres to only three hits in the team’s seventh shutout victory of the season: a 3-0 win Tuesday night at Greer Stadium.

The Sounds wrap the homestand winning seven of the eight to complete their winningest homestand greater than four games since the 2003 season.
