Fort Defiance played host to a one day Civil War Artifacts Exhibit

 

Fort Defiance Interpretive CenterClarksville, TN – John and Nikki Walsh have been collecting Civil War antiquities for many years. During that time they have established a museum quality collection of historic Civil War artifacts from throughout the middle Tennessee region.

On Saturday many of these items came to Clarksville for a one-day exhibit at the Fort defiance visitors center.

Fort Donelson Civil War Roundtable to meet on July 18th in Dover, TN

 

Fort Donelson Civil War Roundtable - Dover, TNDover, TN – On Thursday, July 18th at 7:00pm, the Fort Donelson Civil War Roundtable will be showing the film “Gettysburg Reunion”. The film is being shown in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the July, 1863, battle at Gettysburg.

All meetings are free and open to the public. The Fort Donelson Civil War Roundtable meets in the Stewart County Visitor’s Center, 117 Visitor Center Lane, in Dover, TN.

Mark Green Speaks to Stewart County Tea Party

 

Election 2012Dover, TN – Dr. Mark Green, the conservative Republican candidate for the Tennessee State Senate in District 22, spoke to a great crowd at the monthly Stewart County TEA Party meeting Thursday evening. Green spoke about jobs, the current state of the economy in the district and his plan for creating jobs in the district.

Green stated, “As a small business owner, veteran and a physician I am uniquely qualified to understand the challenges this district is facing and what we must do to create jobs.”

Stewart County Visitors CenterDover, TN – The Life and Diary of Nannie Haskins, a film and presentation by Dr. Ellen Kanervo and Sarah Kanervo, will be presented on March 29th, 2012 at 6:00pm at the Stewart County Visitor Center.

Stewart County Visitors CenterDover, TN – The Life and Diary of Nannie Haskins, a film and presentation by Dr. Ellen Kanervo and Sarah Kanervo, will be presented on March 29th, 2012 at 6:00pm at the Stewart County Visitor Center.

Sixteen-year-old Nannie Haskins lived in Clarksville and kept a diary account of life during the Civil War. Her story has been revived, thanks to a locally-produced film, written and produced by the Kanervos. Dr. Kanervo is professor emeritus of Communications at Austin Peay State University.
