Eastern Illinois pulls upset versus SIU Edwardsville in OVC Volleyball Quarterfinals

 

2017 OVC Volleyball ChampionshipClarksville, TN – It’s not a tournament if you don’t have at least one upset in it and Eastern Illinois did just that in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament, November 16th at the Dunn Center, as the Panthers defeated the Southern Illinois Edwardsville 3-1 (25-27, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19).

The seventh-seeded Panthers (15-14) only took one set off the second-seeded Cougars (23-6) during their two regular-season meetings, but could have beaten SIUE in three straight sets if not for a cold stretch at the end of the first set.

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team makes its swing through the Land of Lincoln for a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches, Friday-Saturday.

First, the OVC-leading Govs will face a fast-rising Eastern Illinois squad in a 7:00pm, Friday contest at Lantz Arena. Austin Peay then meets second-place SIU Edwardsville in a pivotal 2:00pm, Saturday showdown at the Vadalabene Center.
