Clarksville Journalist Scores Hit With New Book, “The Dealers: Then and Now.”

Clarksville Book ReviewClarksville, TN – Award-winning Clarksville Journalist A.J. Dugger III has written an exciting new book about The Dealers, an unsung funk and R&B band from Memphis, TN. Dugger is passionate about telling the story of the band, which includes his mother and uncles.

The book, titled “The Dealers: Then and Now,” was published on July 19th, 2013.

The Dealers regularly opened for many music legends during the 1970s and ’80s. “Marvin Gaye kissed my mom on the right ear,” said Dugger, who writes for The Tennessee Tribune and The Murfreesboro Post. “There are lots of interesting stories in the book not just about The Dealers, but about many of the music legends they were affiliated with.”

Last Chance to catch the Musical “Beehive” at the Roxy

Roxy Regional TheatreBEEHIVE: The '60s Musical Sensation

Clarksville, TN – If you have not seen it yet, you need to get down to the Roxy Regional Theatre this weekend for the last three shows of “Beehive: The ’60s Musical Sensation”. This show features five hot women, a six-piece band and dozens of outrageous costumes. I think the shower curtain skirt was my favorite.

Kendall Anne Thompson, Brianna Hertzberg, Troy Jackson, Jenae Thompson, and Heather Anderson give magnificent vocal performances singing songs from The Chiffons, The Supremes, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and other ’60s pop stars. Several of the songs featured subperb harmonies.

The Beehive Musical has Clarksville abuzz about the Roxy Regional Theatre

BEEHIVE: The '60s Musical SensationRoxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – As I stood in the Roxy Regional Theatre watching Brianna Hertzberg, Troy Jackson, Kendall Anne Thompson, Jenae Thompson, and Heather Anderson performing in the opening number of their production of  Beehive: The ’60s Musical Sensation all I could think of was WOW!

This engrossing musical captures you from the get-go, and doesn’t let you go until the final curtain comes down ending the show. Older adults will find the musical a trip down memory lane, while the younger crowd will get an amazing introduction to the music that shaped a generation.

The musical follows a group of young women as they experience the social and cultural growth that was the 1960’s.The songs and the singers start out somewhat shallow and cheerful, however the singers and their songs grow in depth, complexity, and social awareness as the events of that tumultuous decade unfold.
