Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Hunter Morris belted a two-run homer and Hainley Statia made a game-saving catch in the top of the ninth to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 2-1 victory over the Iowa Cubs on Monday afternoon in the season finale at Greer Stadium.

With today’s crowd of 4,586 fans, the Sounds finished with their largest seasonal attendance in six years (355,003).

Nashville Sounds beats Iowa Cubs 7-2 at Greer Stadium Saturday night

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds treated South Nashville Little League and 8,004 fans to a 7-2 win over the visiting Iowa Cubs Saturday night at Greer Stadium.

Prior to the game, the recent Little League World Series participants joined the Sounds on the field during the pregame festivities. The Sounds honored the team by wearing their Southeast Little League caps during the game.

Nashville Sounds go scoreless in 5-0 loss to Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, Iowa – The Nashville Sounds held the Iowa Cubs to five hits Friday night at Principal Park, but free bases via seven walks, three passed balls, two hit by pitches, and one error committed by Nashville gave Iowa the 5-0 victory and the weather-abbreviated two-game series sweep.

The I-Cubs scored two runs in the first inning, as Nashville starting pitcher Johnny Hellweg (1-2) struggled to find control.

Sounds Defeat Zephyrs Again, 8-2

 

De La Cruz Works Team-Leading 9th Quality Start To Pace Nashville

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds earned their fourth straight win on Monday evening, defeating New Orleans by an 8-2 margin at Greer Stadium.

It marked the Sounds’ third win in three games against the Zephyrs this series. Nashville (36-42) has won 11 of its 15 meetings with New Orleans in 2011.

Right-hander Frankie De La Cruz (3-4) picked up the win as he turned in his team-leading ninth quality start of the year for the Sounds. He held the Z’s to two runs (one earned) while scattering seven hits over six innings. It was his third straight winning decision after opening the year with four consecutive losses.

Sounds end homestand with 3-1 loss

 

Katin Belts Team-Leading 12th Homer For Nashville

Nashville, TN — The Nashville Sounds ended their homestand on the short end of a 3-1 loss to the New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday evening at historic Greer Stadium in the finale of a three-game series.

It was a pretty good crowd for a Saturday, as 9,575 fans took in the loss then watched the Sounds’ Independence Day Weekend fireworks spectacular following the on-field action.

With the defeat, Nashville (44-38) suffered just its second home series loss of the season, dropping two of three to the Z’s. The Sounds finished their homestand with a 4-3 mark.

New Orleans starter Tom Mastny (2-0) twirled an outstanding outing for the visitors, holding Nashville to just one run on four hits over seven strong innings. He walked two batters and struck out three in his quality start. «Read the rest of this article»
