On the Court With Marlon Scott: Clarksville’s Weekly High School Basketball Recap- Postseason

 

Montgomery County High School BasketballClarksville, TN – The regular season concluded and the District tournaments commenced last week. From eight teams in the quarterfinals to four in the semis, and finally both the Boys and Girls District 10-AAA Tournament Champions were crowned on Monday and Tuesday.

Now, the tournament champions and three teams on both sides will begin competition in the Region 5AAA Tournament at Rossview High School beginning Friday, February 21st.

Daniel Norl’s hits last-second jumper to lift Kenwood Knights to District 10-AAA Tournament Title

 

Kenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – Kenwood High School’s Daniel Norl knocked down a 10-foot jumper with 2.6 seconds left, February 18th at Rossview high School, to lift the Knights to a District 10-AAA tournament title for the second time in the school’s history, 57-55, over Henry County High School.

Even with the go-ahead basket by Norl, Henry County still had a final chance at a tie or winning bucket after calling their final timeout with two seconds left and needed to travel the length of the court.

Northwest High Vikings pull away in second half to beat Clarksville High Wildcats 68-50

Northwest High School VikingsClarksville, TN – Tramon Moore scored 20 of his game-high 35 points in the second half — January 28th at the William Workman Gymnasium — to power Northwest High School, as they broke open a one-point point halftime lead into a 68-50 District 10-AAA victory over the Clarksville High School Wildcats.

Northwest (6-16, 3-8 District 10-AAA) looked like it was going to go into halftime down two points to the Wildcats, but Moore banked in a three from about 28-feet out as the buzzer sounded to give the Vikings a 27-26 lead at intermission.

West Creek Coyotes Basketball use second half surge to move past Northwest Vikings 60-49

 

West Creek High School Coyotes - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – After battling to a one-point deficit at halftime, the West Creek Coyotes rallied down the stretch to beat District 10-AAA conference foe Northwest Vikings, 60-49 Tuesday night.

Down 28-29, the Coyotes opened the third period with a 15-2 run which gave them a 12-point lead. However, by the middle of the fourth period the Vikings had come back to within one, 45-44.

Rossview High School Hawks Win District Shootout at Home Against NorthWest Vikings 61-55

 

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – Key baskets at the end of the game by Donterius Peacher helped the Rossview Hawks earn their first District 10-AAA win of the season at home Tuesday night against the Northwest Vikings 61-55.

After three periods, the Hawks had established a solid, seven-point lead. However miscues and sloppy play against the Vikings full court press allowed the Vikings to go on a run and cut the lead to three points with 3 minutes left in the game.

Early deficit more than Northwest High School Vikings can overcome in 86-62 loss to LaVergne Wolverines

 

Northwest High School VikingsClarksville, TN – Northwest High School’s boys basketball team fell behind 7-0 after the first two minutes of play, November 22nd at Willard Ross Memorial Gymnasium, to the LaVergne High School Wolverines and never recovered in a 86-62 loss.

LaVergne (3-0), one of the favorites to win District 7-AAA, exploded out of the gate right away getting a game-opening layup from Charles Sutton just seven seconds into the game.

Northwest High School Vikings win up-tempo affair over Clarksville Academy at CMCSS Basketball Jamboree 44-32

 

Northwest High School VikingsClarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – In what looked more like a track meet than a basketball game at times, November 7th at the APSU Dunn Center in their Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) Basketball Jamboree matchup, the Northwest High School Vikings ran, passed and dunked their way to a 44-32 victory over the Clarksville Academy Cougars.

Northwest opened up the game by getting out to a 10-2 advantage in the game’s final three minutes, powered by back-to-back three from Tramon Moore and Elijah McCoin.
