Warrior Transition Command announces 2015 Army Trials set for March 29th – April 2nd

 

WTC - Warrior Transition CommandAlexandria, VA – The 2015 Army Trials will be at Fort Bliss, Texas, in El Paso, March 29th – April 2nd, and is the second run of this event. The 2015 Department of Defense (DoD) competition is slated for this summer.

In 2014 more than 100 wounded, ill and injured service members and Veterans from across the United States traveled to the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY, to train and compete for the first time in a series of competitive athletic events known as the Army Trials*. The Army Trials help determine which Army athletes compete on the DoD competition Army Team.

Austin Peay Governors Golf Classic set for Friday

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – It’s not too late to register your team for the 27th Annual Governors Golf Classic, to be played Friday at Swan Lake Golf Course.

The tournament promises to have most team entered in several years. It features two Friday tee times, beginning with an 8:00am morning round, followed by a 1:00pm afternoon session. Meanwhile, lunch will be served between rounds in the clubhouse.

Wounded Warriors rehabilitate with SCUBA at the Indoor Aquatic Center

 

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hosted the Warrior Transition Unit’s Wounded Warriors on Wednesday, April 17th at the Indoor Aquatic Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane.

Wounded Warriors participated in a private SCUBA class instructed by Rich Holladay of Waterdogs SCUBA & Safety, LLC.

Clarksville Parks and Recreations announces Kleeman Community Center to host Military Appreciation Day

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Kleeman Community Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Military Appreciation Day on July 11th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Summer Youth Program participants will be giving out crafts they have made at the Kleeman Center site and spending time with the Warrior Transition Unit from Fort Campbell. Refreshments will be served.  This event is open to the public.

Secretary of the Army visits Fort Campbell

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Secretary of the Army John McHugh visited Fort Campbell, August 11th-12th, toured parts of the installation and received insight from soldiers on their concerns about the Army.

McHugh started his visit to Fort Campbell by getting a detailed brief on the new UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter by Capt. Oliver Moore, Company A commander, 5th Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

“We talked about the advantages of the UH-60M versus the UH-60L models,” Moore said. “We talked about how those differences transfer over to the battlefield and what we can do now for the ground soldiers who are fighting the battle.”

Wounded Soldiers To Meet Craig Morgan

 

5 Combat Wounded to Get VIP Treatment at Craig Morgan Concert
 
Spring Into Summer FestivalOak Grove, KY – Five Combat Wounded Soldiers from the Warrior Transition Unit on Fort Campbell have been invited to a meet and greet with country star, Craig Morgan, before his performance at the Viceroy Performing Arts Center in Oak Grove, KY on May 28th, 2011.
 
The soldiers were invited by the Oak Grove Tourism Commission to join the VIP meet and greet and enjoy VIP seating during the show. The Warrior Transition Unit selected the 5 soldiers who will receive the VIP treatment. The concert is part of Oak Grove Tourism’s 4th Annual Spring Into Summer festival which is free and open to the public.

Fort Campbell soldiers attend White House celebration

 

Fort Campbell, KY.  The Home of the Screaming EaglesFORT CAMPBELL – Twenty-five Fort Campbell Soldiers and family members will join The President of the United States during the July 4 celebration on the South Lawn of the White House.

Members of 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Division Special Troops Battalion and the Warrior Transition Unit will attend the event.

Soldiers and family members will spend Independence Day with the President and join him during the White House Salute to the Military. The event recognizes our troops and celebrates their accomplishments as
well as those who support their service and sacrifice.
