101st Airborne Division Deputy Commander to be promoted to Brigadier General

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Col. William B. Hickman, deputy commander (support), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), will be promoted to brigadier general in a promotion ceremony at McAuliffe Hall on July 2nd.

Hickman was nominated for appointment to brigadier general on May 24th, 2011 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 17th, 2011 with a promotion date of July 1st, 2012. Hickman served as the deputy commander (operations), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), from August 2011 to June 2012 before assuming his current position as deputy commander (support).

Clarksville-Montgomery County Celebrated Memorial Day with Honor and Dignity

 

Montgomery County Veterans Service OrganizationClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization (MCVSO) held its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday May 28th, at Veterans Memorial Park in Clarksville, TN.

The event featured City and county officials, as well as MCVSO staff, with the keynote address given by Colonel William B. Hickman, Deputy Commander of Operations, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). The colors were posted by the Elester Garner Chapter of the 555th Triple Nickel, and music was provided by the 101st Airborne Division Band.

The Latest Trail In The Discover Tennessee Trails & Byways Program

Screaming Eagle TrailClarksville, TN The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development officially launched the Screaming Eagle Trail at a special event Friday, April 20th held at the Rivers and Spires Festival in Clarksville, Tennessee. The 13th of 16 self-guided driving tours in the Discover Tennessee Trails & Byways program, The Screaming Eagle travels 353 miles from Nashville throughout other cities in Middle Tennessee.

The Screaming Eagle Trail is the result of a partnership between multiple state agencies and city and county officials. The end result is a trail made up of sites and attractions in Benton, Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery and Stewart counties that travels through Middle Tennessee’s history, landscape, music and cuisine.

Fort Campbell Welcomes Home 215 Soldiers from the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Yesterday Fort Campbell welcomed 215 soldiers from the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade home from a year long deployment to Southern Afghanistan. The 159th Combat Aviation Brigade is one of the last major elements of the 101st Airborne Division still deployed in Afghanistan.

Family and friends of the returning soldiers had gathered together to give their loved ones a proper welcome home.This was an early morning flight and in spite of that there was an energy and enthusiasm in the air.

Fort Campbell held dedication for the new Col. Robert E. Jones Training Support Center

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A ribbon-cutting ceremony was be held at Fort Campbell, yesterday for a new 80,000 square-foot Training Support Center that has been dedicated in honor of Col. Robert E. Jones, U.S. Army (Ret.)  whose name will grace the facility.

The Col. Robert E. Jones Training Support Center will be one of 77 Army-wide facilities that provides Soldiers and leaders with modern mock-ups, devices, simulations and equipment, which will support the training needs and operations of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and other Fort Campbell units.
