Senator Tim Barnes Named to two Senate Standing Committees

Senator will serve on Transportation, Judiciary Committees

The Seal of the State of TennesseeNashville, TN – State Senator Tim Barnes (D-Adams) was named to the Senate Transportation and Judiciary Committees during the opening week of the 107th General Assembly.

“I am honored and pleased to continue to serve on these committees, and I look forward to working for the people of the district I serve on all matters, but especially those regarding our roadways and our legal system,” Barnes said.

The Judiciary Committee is responsible for all legislation dealing with courts, judges, and civil and criminal law. A family attorney, Barnes’ extensive legal background has enabled him to pass legislation making it easier for Tennessee families to adopt children.

“The legal system can become a series of pitfalls and discouragements for everyday citizens, and I will continue to work to cut through the red tape,” Barnes said.

The Transportation Committee deals with legislation regarding roadways, highways and bridges in the state, and hears regularly from the Departments of Transportation and Safety.
