Random School Searches Held at Two CMCSS High Schools Today

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemClarksville, TN – Two Clarksville Montgomery County School System high schools implemented safe lockdowns Friday morning for random contraband searches. No threats nor incidents precipitated the searches, which were carried out with local law enforcement and K9 officers.

“The School System does this periodically in cooperation with law enforcement to insure a safe learning environment for our students.” according to CMCSS spokesperson Elise Shelton.

Disciplinary and/or legal action will be taken with students who had tobacco products in their vehicles or were in possession of property which would be in violation of Tennessee code. The searches inside the two school buildings indicated that there was no contraband in student lockers.

Random searches were conducted at Northwest High and Kenwood High two weeks ago with similar results.
