Austin Peay State University GovernorsNashville, TN – Austin Peay wraps up the non-conference portion of its regular-season schedule when it meets Lipscomb in a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest at Dugan Field.

Austin Peay (27-21) returns to action just two days after clinching the Ohio Valley Conference’s regular-season title, Sunday, against Southeast Missouri. However, midweek outings have been a thorn in the Govs side with just four wins in 14 tries this season.

Sophomore first baseman John Hogan will take a 14-game hit streak into Tuesday’s contest and will return to action after posting three home runs in four games last week.

On the mound, Austin Peay will turn to freshman right-hander Shawn Zabriskie (1-0, 2.00 ERA) who will make his season’s second start. His only previous start came in the Govs 11-4 victory against Alabama A&M, March 6th, as he tossed five innings to pick up the win.

Shawn ZabriskieLipscomb (19-32) closes out the home portion of its schedule with Tuesday’s contest and will look to maintain the momentum of a 9-3 Sunday victory against nationally-ranked Stetson. Lipscomb has not enjoyed much success against OVC opponents this year with one victory – a March 9th win against Morehead State – in five tries.

Freshman shortstop Aaron Spragg was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Bisons victory against Stetson, Sunday, and finished the series with five hits. Senior designated hitter Richie Goodenow leads Lipscomb with a .364 batting average and five home runs while junior third baseman Josh Chism leads the team with 36 RBI while posting a .323 batting average.

Cody HudsonTuesday’s meeting will be the second between the two teams, Austin Peay winning a 16-15 decision, April 19th, in Clarksville, TN. The Bisons rallied from an 11-7 deficit to tie the game in the ninth.
