Montgomery County area TDOT Maintenance Work starting November 7th, 2013

APSU Provost Lecture Series to feature Biology professor Carol Baskauf November 7th

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University biology professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.

Dr. Carol Baskauf, APSU professor of biology, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, November 7th, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. She will talk about her work with Braun’s rock-cress, a federally endangered plant found only in Tennessee and Kentucky.  The plant has an unusual distribution, with a 250-mile gap separating its Tennessee and Kentucky populations.

USO and Tennessee Titans to host fundraiser for Military and Families

 

USONashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans are partnering with the USO to host a fund-raising event at LP Field on Friday, November 15th. The event is open to the public and is an opportunity for area residents to learn more about the services offered by the USO at Nashville International Airport and at Fort Campbell, KY. “Troops & Titans” is specifically a fund-raiser to support these services.

There will be special appearances by Tennessee Titans players and cheerleaders. A short program will also include Keni Thomas, a musician and decorated combat veteran of the elite 75th Ranger Regiment special operations unit.

Clarksville Gas and Water announces Jackson Road Closure Planned for Thursday, November 7th

 

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – A Clarksville Gas and Water contractor will close Jackson Road again on Thursday, November 7th, 2013 from 8:30am until 2:00pm for ongoing water main maintenance work.

Westbound traffic will be detoured to Spencer Lane and Randell Drive and eastbound traffic will be detoured to Hudson Drive and Randell Drive.

Gwendolyn Rodriguez Shows Art Planters Bank November 7th

 

Planters BankClarksville, TN – Gwendolyn Rodriguez loves to paint pictures that tell a story of a person or a time and place. Her paintings, showing a sample of her diverse interests and places around the world, will be on display at the Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery Thursday, November 7th – Wednesday, December 4th.

Although born in San Antonio, Texas, Rodriguez spent most of her childhood in Middle Tennessee. At 18, she experienced life as an exchange student in Germany, where she developed a passion for travel and languages.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Terminal Road Water Outage

 

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – A Clarksville Gas and Water construction crew has turned off water service on Terminal Road to repair a water main leak. The repair work is anticipated to be finished by approximately 2:30pm.

The road is open to traffic.

UFC Fighters visit Fort Campbell’s Warrior Resiliency and Recovery Center

 

UFC - Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipFort Campbell, KY –  Fort Campbell’s Warrior Resiliency and Recovery Center and National Intrepid Center of Excellence satellite, Intrepid Spirit, director Dr. Bret Logan welcomed four guest Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters November 4th to his traumatic brain injury treatment center.

The UFC guest fighters are visiting Fort Campbell before the “Fight for the Troops” event Wednesday night.

Brady Hassell assists during a simulated convey Nov. 4. 2013 at the Warrior Resiliency and Recovery Center on Fort Campbell, Ky. where Hassell currently receives treatment for a traumatic brain injury. Liddell, along with fellow UFC guest fighters Forrest Griffin, Fredson Paixao and Jim Miller, received a hands-on tour of portions of TBI therapy sessions that Soldiers receive at the center. Go Commando Donates Over $50,000 To Charitable Organizations

 

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5kClarksville, TN – The Go Commando Half Marathon & 5k, powered by CDE Lightband, announced Tuesday they would donate over $50,000 to local non-profits and community organizations.

The largest recipients, the Clarksville Area YMCA and the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation, were both on hand to accept donations of $15,000 each. Christy Batts, Broadband Division Manager for the Clarksville Department of Electricity, was also in attendance to present the checks to the recipients.
