Clarksville, TN – On New Year’s Eve, The Clarksville Transit System will offer safe rides home again this year through “Operation Safe Ride.” This is a free service open to anyone who is too impaired to drive home.
People who live within the Clarksville city limits can call 931.553.2429 for a ride home between the hours of 11:00pm and 3:00am.“One of our main goals at CTS is to provide for the safety of our passengers,” said Arthur Bing, Director of the Clarksville Transit System. “Operation Safe Ride is one more way we can help our customers and we are very proud to have helped hundreds get home safely for more than two decades.”
Anyone who cannot, or should not, drive home on New Year’s Eve can call 931.553.2429 to request a ride. Information is also being posted in restaurants, bars and other stores around town with the phone number.
CTS emphasizes that this is not a shuttle service. People will be picked up at their location, whether it is a public function or private location, and driven directly home.
This year CTS is also serving Fort Campbell through Operation Safe Ride. CTS will get passengers who need transportation to Gate 4 at Fort Campbell. Installation officials will transport them from Gate 4 to their final destination.
“I encourage everyone who needs a safe ride home on New Year’s Eve to take advantage of this service. We want to make sure you get home safely. Take this number with you to make sure you have a safe ride home and a happy New Year celebration,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan. “I want to thank CTS for making this service available again this year and I appreciate the CTS employees who are voluntarily giving up their own celebrations to provide this service to our community.”
On New Year’s Eve, the number to call for a safe ride is 931.553.2429.
