Tennessee Lady Vols maul Florida Gators, 67-50

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Sophomore Rennia Davis and redshirt senior forward Cheridene Green each posted double-doubles to propel the Tennessee Lady Vols to victory over Florida on Thursday night in Thompson-Boling Arena, 67-50.
 
Davis ended the day as Tennessee’s (14-7, 3-5 SEC) leading scorer with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Green posted a season-high-tying 15 points and 10 rebounds. All five starters scored in the first quarter for the Lady Vols and combined to finish with 53 of the team’s 67 points as UT won its second straight contest.

But at the end, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team had done more than enough to snap a six-game losing streak in the Eblen Center by virtue of a 77-66 decision before a national audience, Thursday.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate seven deputies on their recent promotion to Corporal/FTO in the Detention Services Bureau.

Corporal Mack Little began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in April of 2016 as a Jail Deputy. Little was promoted to FTO in April of 2018 and has nearly 3 years of service with our agency.

Corporal Danielle Williams began her career with the Sheriff’s Office in July of 2004 as a Jail Deputy. Williams was promoted to FTO in October of 2013 and has more than 14 years of service with our agency.

APSU Women's Track and FieldClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) track and field is headed north—not to the originally-scheduled Don DeNoon Invitational in Carbondale but instead to the Fred Wilt Open, hosted by Purdue, in West Lafayette, Indiana. The two-day event is schedule to begin Friday.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) would like to congratulate Daniel Trimble and Austin Brown on their graduation from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in Nashville, Tennessee.

The twelve week course prepares students to meet the standards for law enforcement officers established by the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST).

The curriculum includes firearms training, defensive and tactical driving, physical defense tactics, understanding terrorism, law enforcement procedures, and introduction to the legal process.

Clarksville Police Department reports Changes to Hauler Schedule, Potential Traffic Interruption

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department just received a notification about changes to the movement of the beams for the McClure Bridge.

The first movement will still take place on February 1st, 2019. The changes could mean more of an impact to traffic flow.

The company is now going to bring four 130ft beams on separate haulers instead of the two originally planned.

Austin Peay State University sends Dolls to Stratosphere to celebrate Women in STEM

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and the APSU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) recently celebrated women in STEM by launching a high-altitude balloon carrying two dolls adorned in American Girl NASA space suits.

The dolls reached 93,914 feet at 11:13am January 24th, 2019.
