Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) beach volleyball team is on the road for its final matches of ASUN Conference play against Jacksonville State and Coastal Carolina in the Conway Classic, beginning Friday morning and ending Saturday afternoon.
The Governors will face Jacksonville State (3-7) 8:00am, Friday, and 11:00am, Saturday. This will be the fifth and sixth meeting between the Governors and the Gamecocks.
The Governors lead the series, 4-1, against the Gamecocks, winning the previous three matches. Jacksonville State has lost three straight matches heading into this weekend.
After facing Jacksonville State Friday morning., the Governors will take on the host Coastal Carolina for the first time in program history, 2:00pm, Friday. The Chanticleers (11-9), who dropped their last two matches, will also face off against the Govs 9:00am, Saturday.
Before going into Friday, the Governors are sitting in the fifth spot of the ASUN standings with a 2-2 conference record. Jacksonville State loss its first two matches of conference play against North Alabama and sits at ninth. Host Coastal Carolina will have its first conference match of the season against Morehead State, Friday, before facing the Govs.
Tough challenges are ahead for the Govs as they prepare for this weekend, but they have been moving in the right direction after passing the midway point of the season, and have won four of their last five matches.
