Nashville Sounds fall at home to San Antonio Missions

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were leading the San Antonio Missions into the seventh inning, but allowed a three-run home run to lose the lead. The Missions added two more insurance runs in the eighth, defeating the Sounds 9-5 Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.

The first run for the Sounds came in the bottom of the first inning. Andy Ibanez hit a solo home run to left-center field, giving Nashville the early 1-0 lead.

San Antonio responded right away with a three-run second inning. Blake Allemand took the lead with one swing of the bat, hitting a bases loaded double that scored two runners. Corey Ray hit in the third run on a ground out, giving the Missions a 3-1 lead.

APSU Volleyball falls to Kansas State, Maryland, Saturday

 

APSU Women's VolleyballRaleigh, NC – Junior Brooke Moore finished the day with 18 kills and junior Jenna Panning added 16 kills but the Austin Peay State University (APSU) volleyball team ended its stay at the Wolfpack Invitational by falling in four sets to Kansas State (17-25, 25-18, 10-25, 23-25) and three sets to Maryland (20-25, 19-25, 15-25), Saturday, at Reynolds Coliseum.

Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Warns About National “Loan Payment Protection Insurance” Scam

 

Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance - TDCINashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) is joining other state regulators in warning consumers about a national insurance scam targeting consumers shopping for privately funded loans, likely for real estate.

Victims have been identified in three states including Tennessee where a Johnson City man says he lost $18,000 to scammers.

APSU Women’s Cross Country open season in Nashville at Belmont Opener

 

APSU Women's Cross CountryNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s cross country team opened the 2019 season with strong runs in the 5 kilometer race at the Belmont Opener, Friday evening.

In her first race since the 2017 season, Emmaculate Kiplagat was the first Governor to cross the finish line recording a 22nd-place finish in 19:40.48.

APSU Men’s Cross Country starts season strong at Belmont Opener

 

APSU Men's Cross CountryNashville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s cross country team kicked off its 2019 season with a series of impressive runs in Nashville at the Belmont Opener, Friday.

Thomas Porter picked up right where he left off last season, finishing first for the Govs and 26th overall at 16:37.51.

City of Clarksville set to construct Pedestrian Bridge over Red River

 

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville has announced that it will complete a 10-mile hiking and biking trail linking the City’s downtown riverfront with Northeast Clarksville.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced Clarksville will receive a $1.82 million federal Transportation Alternatives Project grant for construction of a pedestrian bridge over the Red River.

$1.8 million grant will help connect Clarksville Greenway and Riverwalk.

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) soccer team fell 1-0 to the Mercer Bears in a hard-fought defensive battle in its 2019 regular-season home opener at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field Friday night.

The Governors came out aggressive early in the home opener, getting off seven shots in the first half.

NASA has several Instruments, Spacecraft observing Hurricane Dorian

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationPasadena, CA – NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has several instruments and spacecraft with eyes on Hurricane Dorian, capturing different types of data from the storm.

NASA’s Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), aboard the Aqua satellite, senses emitted infrared and microwave radiation from Earth. The information is used to map such atmospheric phenomena as temperature, humidity, and cloud amounts and heights.
