Clarksville City Council Regular Session Report for July 1st, 2014

 

Clarksville City Council - Ward 10Clarksville, TN – Due to the upcoming 4th of July weekend, the city council moved its regular voting session to July 1st. It was an interesting evening.

Ordinance 7 – 2014-15 (Homeless Shelter Distance)

This ordinance proposed to shrink the distance that a homeless shelter could be located from residential properties. Currently, the distance requirement is 1000 feet. According to map inquiries by the Planning Commission, there are only four locations left in Clarksville that would allow a shelter to be at this separation requirement. «Read the rest of this article»

Roxy Regional Theatre’s 29th Season Brings Something for Everyone

 

Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – With the musical hit Beehive: The ’60s Musical Sensation bringing down the house nightly through October 15th, the Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville, has opened its 29th season of classics, musicals, regional premieres and world premieres.
 
For two nights only, October 21st and 22nd, New York actor Ashton Crosby brings his tour of Mark Twain: Adventures in American Humor back to the Roxy stage.  Then on October 28th and 29th, the infamous Mercury Theatre 1938 radio broadcast will be recreated live on stage with The War of the Worlds.

Comedy on the Cumberland raises $2,100 for Radical Mission

 

Clarksville, TN – Any time you can mix raising money for a charity while at the same time making people laugh, you have a sure fire recipe for success.

This is exactly what Hank Bonecutter does with his Comedy on the Cumberland franchise. He takes three very funny comedians, mixes them liberally with a worthy charity that helps to fight hunger in our community, he then adds in a great crowd, and if you were there you had a really good time.

Kentucky ADT inspects beehive project

Regional Command East - Combined Joint Task Force - 101Kapisa Province, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Capt. Bobbie Mayes, the women’s empowerment coordinator with the Kentucky Agribusiness Development Team and a resident of Lawrenceburg, KY, demonstrates how to keep ants away from the beehives by sprinkling foot powder around the base of the hive at the Al-Bironi University farm here August 23rd.

Mayes has visited the site before and donated a beehive and training guide to the university to help with the growth of the bees and increase honey production.
