Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission Updates Fishing Regulations

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) approved updates to the state’s fishing regulations at its September meeting which concluded Friday at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building.

The changes came to the commercial fishing, sport fishing regulations, and bait regulations for 2020-22.       

In addition to the fishing regulations, the Fisheries Division announced its 2019 awards. Eric Ganus, who coordinates the agency’s statewide commercial fish, turtle, and mussel programs, was named Fisheries Biologist of the Year. Tim Williams was named Fisheries Technician of the Year and serves as the senior technician at Buffalo Springs Hatchery, the agency’s largest trout hatchery which is located in Rutledge.

“We want everyone to have fun while they’re here,” explains Forest Service Law Enforcement Patrol Captain Duane Cameron. “Practicing safe habits makes all the difference.” Cameron asks visitors to keep safety in mind while enjoying Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area and neighboring communities.

TWRA to host 2016 Outdoors-Woman Workshop June 3rd-5th in Crossville

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will host the 2016 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop June 3rd-5th the in Crossville at the Clyde M. York 4-H Center.

The relaxed atmosphere of the BOW workshop is primarily aimed at women, and is an opportunity for those 18 or older to learn outdoor skills usually associated with hunting and fishing.

TWRA says 2015 Boating Season Kicks Off with Memorial Day Weekend

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Memorial Day holiday weekend is regarded as the unofficial start to the summer boating season and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency wants to emphasize the use of life jackets while boating in a safe and responsible manner.

Annually, the Memorial Day weekend is one of the year’s busiest boating weekends. Last year over the holiday weekend, there was one boating-related fatality which came while a Knoxville resident was launching his boat from a trailer on Douglas Lake.

Fort Campbell 716th Military Police Battalion Soldiers focus on Safety

Fort Campbell, KY – Soldiers from the 716th Military Police Battalion, supported by the 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, participated in a battalion safety training exercise May 1st at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The battalion and their Families trained on many topics, including vehicle safety, safe alcohol use and the value of life.

Subject matter experts from the battalion and partners from Fort Campbell and Clarksville led the training.

Officer Melissa Spielhagen, with the Clarksville Police Department fatal crash investigations, trains Soldiers from the 716th Military Police Battalion on alcohol safety May 1, 2015, at Fort Campbell, Ky. She used a real-life example of a fatal crash that involved alcohol to demonstrate the importance of not driving after drinking. (Sgt. Center for Disease Control Boating Safety Tips to keep you Safe this Summer

 

Centers for Disease Control and PreventionWashington, D.C. – Everyone, on all types of boats, should wear properly-fitted life jackets, or personal flotation devices (PFD) says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
