Nashville, TN – Nashville Sounds infielder Nick Martini and right-handed pitchers James Naile and Bobby Wahl have been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team as announced by the league. All three were selected as reserves by the PCL office.
The 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11th at 8:00pm CST at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio. The game will be carried live on ALT 97.5 FM with Sounds broadcaster Jeff Hem on the call and televised on MLB Network.
Nashville Sounds’ Brad LaRosa Named Pacific Coast League Athletic Trainer for Triple-A All-Star Game
Nashville, TN – Nashville Sounds’ athletic trainer Brad LaRosa has been selected to the Pacific Coast League All-Star field staff for the 2018 Huntington Bank Triple-A All-Star Game presented by Gildan. The game will be played at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, July 11th, 2108 at 8:00pm CST and pits all-stars from the International League against all-stars from the Pacific Coast League.
LaRosa will join Iowa’s Marty Pevey (manager), Fresno’s Dyar Miller (pitching coach), and Round Rock’s Geno Petralli (coach) on the Pacific Coast League staff. 2018 marks the second consecutive year a member of the Sounds’ field staff has been named to the PCL All-Star staff. Rick Rodriguez was selected as the league’s pitching coach in 2017.

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics, has announced its tentative Opening Day roster. The Sounds begin Pacific Coast League on the road when they begin a five-game series against the New Orleans Baby Cakes on Thursday, April 5th.
Seven Baseball America top-30 Oakland A’s prospects, 14 players with Major League experience and 13 players who have played for the Sounds highlight the roster.
Fran Riordan to Manage Club After Leading Double-A Midland to Texas League Title
Nashville, TN – Fran Riordan has been named the new manager of the Nashville Sounds as announced by the Oakland Athletics today. Riordan is the 28th manager in franchise history.
Riordan, 42, takes over the manager role vacated by Ryan Christenson who was hired as the bench coach for Oakland.
Riordan will manage at the Triple-A level for the first time after leading the Double-A Midland RockHounds to a Texas League title in 2017. It was the fourth consecutive championship for Oakland’s Double-A affiliate.

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics, has announced its tentative Opening Day roster. The Sounds begin the 40th anniversary season on Thursday when they open Pacific Coast League play in Round Rock, Texas.
Led by the 21-year-old number one prospect Franklin Barreto, the Sounds have nine players listed among Oakland’s top prospects (according to Baseball America). The list includes INF Matt Chapman (No. 3), INF Chad Pinder (No. 7), RHP Daniel Gossett (No. 8), C Bruce Maxwell (No. 10), INF/OF Matt Olson (No. 17), INF/OF Renato Nuñez (No. 18), RHP Paul Blackburn (No. 23), and RHP Bobby Wahl (No. 26).
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds 2017 coaching staff has been announced by the Oakland Athletics and is highlighted by new Manager, Ryan Christenson.
Christenson, 42, will manage at the Triple-A level for the first time after leading the Double-A Midland RockHounds to Texas League titles in 2015 and 2016.
The 2016 Texas League Manager of the Year, Christenson enters his fifth season in the Oakland organization. His coaching staff will consist of pitching coach Rick Rodriguez, hitting coach Eric Martins, athletic trainer Brad LaRosa and strength and conditioning coach Henry Torres. Rodriguez, Martins and LaRosa were members of the 2016 Sounds coaching staff.
Round Rock, TX – The Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) has selected Nashville Sounds’ Brad LaRosa the 2016 PCL Trainer of the Year.
The award is given annually to one member of each of the 16 Leagues in Minor League Baseball, as well as the Dominican Summer League, in a selection by their peers. As the PCL winner, LaRosa is now eligible for the Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year award, which is voted upon by full membership of the PBATS and announced at the 2016 Major League Baseball Winter Meetings in Washington, D.C.
Des Moines, IA – Five errors led to the downfall of the short-handed Nashville Sounds in a 7-4 loss to the Iowa Cubs Friday night at Principal Park.
The season-high in miscues led to a three-run second inning the Sounds (44-32) couldn’t recover from. With the game even at 1-1, starter Jesse Hahn had to face several extra batters in the frame after an error by Ryon Healy and two from Renato Nunez.
When the damage was done, Iowa (35-37) held a 4-1 lead heading to the third. The Sounds battled back and scored a pair of runs to pull within one.
Nashville, TN – Chad Pinder hit a tie-breaking home run in the sixth inning to lift the Nashville Sounds to a 3-2 win over the Round Rock Express in front of a sellout crowd of 10,390 Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.
It’s the third consecutive sellout for the Sounds (42-27) who extended their American Southern Division lead to five games over the Express (36-31). The three straight capacity crowds match a Sounds record for consecutive sellouts in the PCL era.
Both teams got a pair of runs in the second inning to get the scoring started early. Round Rock’s Drew Robinson belted a booming two-run homer off Henderson Alvarez to get the Express out to a 2-0 lead.

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club has announced its tentative Opening Day roster for the 2016 season. The Sounds begin Pacific Coast League play on Thursday, April 7th when they welcome the Oklahoma City Dodgers to First Tennessee Park.
Eight players listed among Oakland’s top-20 prospects (according to Baseball America) will begin the season in Music City. They include: LHP Sean Manaea (No. 2), INF Renato Nunez (No. 4), OF Matt Olson (No. 6), INF Chad Pinder (No. 7), LHP Dillon Overton (No. 8), INF Max Muncy (No. 13), INF Rangel Ravelo (No. 15) and Joey Wendle (No. 17).
