Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators fought back from the brink of death tonight to defeat the Calgary Flames in an absolute “barn burner,” 4-3.
Mikael Granlund was the hero tonight with two point, including the game tying and game winning goals, to defeat their conference rivals. Both teams are battling for points to stay in the playoff race, and tonight was Nashville’s night.
Colton Sissons started the scoring for the Predators at 19:28 of the opening frame, taking a feed from Colin Blackwell and firing the “one timer” to beat David Rittich of the Flames for the 1-0 lead.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators picked off the Ottawa Senators tonight at Bridgestone Arena and gathered up two valuable points in the process, 3-2.
Nashville, trying to fight their way into the wild card race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, used the power play to their advantage, and held off a decimated Senators squad for the win.
Ottawa drew first blood though in this one, as Thomas Chabot scored at 4:53 of the opening period, grabbing a loose puck from the circle and beat Juuse Saros in net for the Predators for the 1-0 lead.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators have made it three in a row with today’s win over the visiting St. Louis Blues 2-1. Kyle Turris provided the game winner at 17:48 of the final period for the win.
The Predators have now swept the series with St. Louis as they gain the two points, moving them ever closer to a wild-card spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
There was no replay of of last nights fisticuffs in St. Louis as the two teams were obviously conserving their energy for today’s game. The first period appeared to be a “feeling out” period for the two teams, with no score at the end of the opening period.
Calgary, Alberta – The Nashville Predators won the second game of their four game road trip through Canada, with a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames tonight.
Juuse Saros started his second game in a row in net for the Predators, fending off 33 of 35 shots on goal for the win. Cam Talbot took the loss in net for the Flames.
Nashville now finds itself right back in the playoff picture with tonight’s win, trailing these Flames by just one point for the wild-card spot in the western conference.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators held a three goal lead after two periods of play, only to fall in overtime to the Calgary Flames, 6-5 in Nashville. It was a stunned Smashville crowd that headed for the exits when Mathew Tkachuk slipped the game winner past Pekka Rinne as the buzzer sounded to end the extra period.
The Predators were in full command of this one right from the start. Nick Bonino continued his scoring onslaught as he gave Nashville the early 1-0 lead, just 5:33 into the opening period. The Bonino backhand slipped past David Rittich and that gave Bonino four goals in his last four shots, including the hat trick on Tuesday night against the Blackhawks.
Nashville, TN – Nick Bonino scored a hat-trick and Pekka Rinne pitched his second shutout in a row, as the Nashville Predators defeated the flailing Chicago Blackhawks, 3-0.
The Predators fired 51 shots on goal tonight, compared to Chicago’s 20. The real star of the game should have been Chicago goalie Robin Lehner who ultimately stopped 48 shots on the night, but lost the game.
His frustration showed throughout the night, but the Predators were relentless.
Calgary Alberta, Canada – The Nashville Predators fell to the Calgary Flames tonight, losing both games on this road trip, 5-2. After fighting back from deficits throughout the night, the Flames finally put the game away for the win.
Nashville started the game with Juuse Saros in net, replacing Pekka Rinne who had the night off. Saros got off to a shaky start giving up the first goal of the game just 1:12 into the contest. Oliver Kylington put Calgary on the board with a snap shot that beat Saros for the early 1-0 lead.
Vancouver, BC – The Nashville Predators dug too big of a hole in Vancouver tonight, and couldn’t climb back out, losing to the Vancouver Canucks, 5-3.
Nashville is on a two game Canadian road trip and will travel to Calgary for a Saturday night matchup against the Flames. Vancouver will return to Nashville next week.
Alexander Edler started the scoring for Vancouver at 7:48 of the first period with a slap shot that beat Pekka Rinne for the early 1-0 lead. Edler was assisted by Nikolay Goldobin and Elias Pettersson on the score.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators just continue to win. Whether it be at home or on the road, the Preds are off to a great start.
Tonight, they finish their first “back-to-back” series with the victory over the Edmonton Oilers 3-0.
This comes on the heels of their 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames the night before where the Predators were able to extract a bit of revenge for their home opener against these Flames, where Calgary was able to shutout the Predators.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators completed their five game home stand with a 4-2 win over the visiting Minnesota Wild tonight at Bridgestone Arena. After a disappointing opening night loss, the Preds have now reeled off four straight wins, improving to 5-1 on the season.
Craig Smith put the Predators up 1-0 on a backhander that beat Wild starting goalie, Alex Stalock, with assists from P.K Subban and Ryan Johansen. Stalock got the start over Devan Dubnyk for Minnesota.
