Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will renew an old rivalry versus Tennessee Chattanooga, 5:00pm (CT), Wednesday at Frost Stadium, ending an eight-year hiatus in the series between the two in-state universities.
The Govs enter the matchup versus the Mocs with a 20-10 overall record this spring, after dropping a 3-2 decision on the road to Middle Tennessee on Monday.
Clarksville, TN – The District 10-AAA girls basketball tournament continued Saturday at Kenwood High School. Four teams competed with the winners advancing to the Championship game and the losers going to the consolation game.
The Rossview Lady Hawks and the Henry County Lady Patriots secured wins and will face each other in the tournament championship game.
Clarksville, TN – Haley Bearden made a definite statement on her last night at home for the regular season. On Senior Night at Clarksville High, Bearden led her team with a double-double, past the tenacious Henry County Lady Patriots, 46-40.
Bearden finished the game with 16 points, 16 rebounds and two blocks. Although she led the team with her 16 points, it was her clutch rebounding in the last minutes of the game that kept her team ahead of the Lady Patriots.
Bearden’s last two points came from the free throw line, giving the Lady Wildcats a 43-38 lead with just over three minutes left in the game. With just under two minutes, Henry County’s Ashley Martin scored in the paint to make the score 43-40.
Clarksville, TN – The countdown to the end of the high school basketball regular season continues. Less than 20 days remain until a regular season champion is crowned and the district tournament begins. The race has only gotten tighter since the second half of the season began.
Only two games separate the four top ranked District 10-AAA girls basketball teams with six or seven games left in the regular season. As of Sunday, January 18th, two teams are tied at the top of the district and they will face each other in a pivotal game Tuesday, January 20th.
Clarksville, TN – The Kenwood Lady Knights (5-14) did not have an answer to the Henry County Lady Patriots (13-8) post game Friday night at Kenwood High School. The Lady Patriots used their superior size inside to dominate the Lady Knights, 66-32.
It was a long night for the Lady Knights. In addition to being fed a steady, unstoppable diet in the post, they watched open shots uncharacteristically roll off the rim throughout the game.
Clarksville, TN – Northeast High School’s girls basketball team played as well as they have all season in the first half, Tuesday, December 9th, in their District 10-AAA game versus Henry County High School, but a third-quarter meltdown by the Lady Eagles proved to be the difference maker in a 57-48 loss.
Leading 26-17 heading into the third quarter, Northeast (2-4, 1-2 District 10-AAA) saw Henry County score the first six points of the second half to cut the Lady Eagles lead down to just three points, 26-23.
Clarksville, TN – What a difference a day makes.
One day ago, the Clarksville Lady Wildcats waged a seven-inning battle against the Northeast Lady Eagles, both teams combining to score three runs and the Lady Wildcats losing 2-1.
A day later, on Wednesday, May 7th, the Lady Wildcats had to defeat the Kenwood Lady Knights to get a rematch against the Lady Eagles and possibly force a third game to determine the 2014 District 10-AAA Tournament Champion.
Clarksville, TN – The regular season concluded and the District tournaments commenced last week. From eight teams in the quarterfinals to four in the semis, and finally both the Boys and Girls District 10-AAA Tournament Champions were crowned on Monday and Tuesday.
Now, the tournament champions and three teams on both sides will begin competition in the Region 5AAA Tournament at Rossview High School beginning Friday, February 21st.
Clarksville, TN – Deep, dominant and balanced are just a few adjectives used to describe the Rossview Lady Hawks basketball teams. Now, for the first time in school history, writers can add District 10-AAA Tournament Champions. The Lady Hawks defeated the Kenwood Lady Knights in the District 10-AAA Girls Basketball Tournament Monday night at Rossview High School 63-35.
The win advances the Lady Hawks to the Regionals as the District 10-AAA number one seed. As a result they will play the District 9 fourth seed Friday, February 21st.
