Nashville Sounds announces Coaching Staff for 2020 Season

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Darwin Barney has been named the manager of the Nashville Sounds as announced today by the Texas Rangers. Barney is set to become the 30th manager in franchise history.

Barney, 34, will be making his professional coaching and managerial debut. The Oregon native played parts of eight seasons in the big leagues. He spent time with the Chicago Cubs (2010-14), Los Angeles Dodgers (2014-15) and the Toronto Blue Jays (2015-17).

Nashville Sounds release Home Schedule for 2020

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The 2020 home schedule has been release by the Nashville Sounds for their sixth season at First Tennessee Park, in conjunction with the Pacific Coast League. For the third time in six years, the Sounds will open their season at home. Opening Day of 2020 is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th when the Sounds host the Iowa Cubs.

The home opener against the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs is the beginning of a season-opening five-game homestand at First Tennessee Park.

The APSU Govs have a long history in the draft — dating back to the Govs first draft selection in the 1972 draft, Tim Burns, who went in the second round — and this year’s 40-round draft should be no different.

Nashville Sounds falter at Memphis Redbirds, 7-2

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds lost their third straight game after a 7-2 loss to Memphis, Sunday. Tim Dillard earned his second loss of the season while Ryan Helsley earned his first win of the season for the Redbirds.

Two runs were scored by the Redbirds in the first inning. Tyler O’Neill hit a single to score Drew Robinson, Adolis Garcia would ground out to score another to make it 2-0 after one inning.

Memphis would score a run in the second and third inning each. Robinson had a RBI single in the second and Rangel Ravelo hit the RBI single in the third.

Nashville Sounds beat Texas Rangers 4-3 at First Tennessee Park, Sunday

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds edged the Texas Rangers, 4-3, in front of a record-breaking crowd of 11,824 at First Tennessee Park Sunday afternoon. It was the first Major League exhibition game in Nashville since June 3rd, 1999.

Outfielder Preston Beck provided the difference when he gave the Sounds a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when he belted a two-run homer into The Band Box off Texas reliever Shawn Kelley.

Taylor Hearn got the starting nod for Nashville and cruised through five innings after a 44-minute rain delay prior to first pitch. Hearn’s lone hiccup came in the first when Texas plated a run on Hunter Pence’s sacrifice fly. The southpaw went five innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits. He walked two and struck out seven.

Nashville SoundsLas Vegas, NV – The Nashville Sounds, in conjunction with the Texas Rangers, announced today at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Las Vegas that the two teams will play a spring training exhibition game at First Tennessee Park on Sunday, March 24th at 1:05pm.

“This is another thrilling and historic day for the Nashville Sounds,” said General Manager Adam Nuse. “One of the biggest goals we established with our partnership with the Rangers was to bring a spring training exhibition game to First Tennessee Park and the city of Nashville. Nashville Sounds’ first homestand begins Tuesday at First Tennessee Park

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club returns to First Tennessee Park for Opening Day and the first homestand of the 2018 season on Tuesday, April 10th.

The fourth season at First Tennessee Park begins with the Sounds welcoming the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Cubs, for a three-game series from April 10th-12th, and the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, the Omaha Storm Chasers, for a four-game set from April 13th-16th.
