APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts awards Summer Research Fellowships

 

APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative ArtsClarksville, TN – For more than 25 years, the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts has been providing students with a one-of-a-kind experience in visual arts, music, creative writing, theatre and dance.

To further the Center’s goals of fostering the next generation of creative thinkers, a trio of students was recently honored with the Center’s first-ever Undergraduate Research Fellowship.

APSU students Megan Oelgoetz, Benjamin McCormack and Conor Scruton were chosen for the inaugural fellowship, each presenting a paper outlining their passions and, if selected, the topics they would choose to explore during their fellowship. «Read the rest of this article»

Austin Peay State University graduate Conor Scruton to study poetry at summer house of Robert Frost

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – A small, white house located on a farm in New Hampshire, the property now known as The Frost Place served as American poet Robert Frost’s summer home from 1915 through 1938.

It was on that humble plot of land where Frost formed many of the poems that would eventually earn him, among other honors, a Congressional Gold Medal and four Pulitzer Prizes. In 1977, 14 years after his death, the farmhouse was transformed into The Frost Place and became a retreat for emerging American poets.

Austin Peay State University to host 20th annual Bread and Words reading Monday, November 24th

 

APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative ArtsClarksville, TN – Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for life’s blessings, and the Austin Peay State University Department of Languages and Literature hosts an annual reading to benefit those less fortunate in the community the best way it knows how: through the written word.

Austin Peay State University’s Student Newspaper Named 4th Best In South; Cartoonist Earns First-Place Honors

 

The All StateAustin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The All State, Austin Peay State University’s student newspaper, was ranked No. 4 in the South on Feb. 21 at the annual Southeast Journalism Conference, held Feb. 20-22 at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

The newspaper staff also earned individual awards in the annual Best of the South competition. Christy Walker, former cartoonist for The All State, was ranked No. 1 in the South for her editorial cartoons. «Read the rest of this article»
