TSSAA announces Schools can begin contact during practice effective immediately

 

Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA)Hermitage, TN – Executive Order No. 55, first announced this past Tuesday, was signed by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee today, July 31st, 2020, making contact during practice now permissible in the sports of football and girls’ soccer. Other fall sports, including golf, cross country, and volleyball were not affected by the State of Emergency Order that prohibited contact sports.

Although contact practice is now permissible, the regulations and requirements for practice and competition adopted by the Board of Control at their July 22nd meeting are still in place for all sports and must be followed.

Ohio Valley Conference announces Changes to Fall Schedules of Olympic Sports

 

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – The Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Board of Presidents has reiterated its intention for the Conference to commence competition this fall if the facts surrounding the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic support it.

The Board agreed to postpone the start of competition in fall Olympic sports until September 17th and to conduct conference-only competition in women’s soccer and volleyball. This decision does not include football at this time due to existing contractual matters.

Clarksville hosted Weekend Sporting Events Bring 8,300 people, $3.2 Million to Local Economy

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville welcomed two major events this weekend that, combined, pumped over $3.2 million into the local economy.

The Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) Track & Field State Championships brought some 2,520 visitors, including 600 athletes, who competed at Austin Peay State University’s Fortera Stadium for top medals in discus throw, high jump, long jump, shot put along with multiple track events.

Clarksville Hosts its Second Cross Country State Championship

 

Event Brings 1,112; Generates $131,772 in Visitor Spending

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – More than 1,100 athletes, coaches, and spectators visited Clarksville on Saturday, October 8th for the Class A and AA Boys and Girls Cross Country State Championships.

Packing tents, coolers and plenty of water, family members cheered runners along the two-mile course at the Hilldale Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Clarksville Christian Ends Cross Country Season with Success

 

Clarksville Christian SchoolClarksville, TN – Clarksville Christian School is proud to announce the middle school boys’ and girls’ cross country teams both placed fourth out of fourteen for the 2015-16 season of the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference (MTAC).

These awards come at the end of a season that also recognized several team members with All-Conference honors.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Cross Country teams positioned to make a move in OVC

 

Instant Peay PlayClarksville, TN –Youth and injuries limited Austin Peay State University men’s and women’s cross country teams in 2014, but a year older, a year more experienced and healthy once again, the Govs an Lady Govs are ready to make a move up on the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Lady Govs finished in eighth place in the OVC championship in 2014, while the men finished ninth, and both enter the 2015 regular season picked ninth in the OVC pre-season poll, but the men’s team return eight of 10 runners from last season while the women’s team returns all seven runners from last season.
