APSU Football claims Sgt. York Trophy with 35-28 win at Tennessee Tech

APSU FootballCookeville, TN –  With a chance to claim the first Sgt. York Trophy in program history, the Austin Peay State University football team picked up a 35-28 victory over in-state rival Tennessee Tech to improve to 3-0 in the series and capture the title, Saturday, November 4th, 2017 in Cookeville Tennessee.

The Governors (6-4, 5-1 OVC) rushing attack was once again dominant, racking up 423 yards – the most in any contest between two Ohio Valley Conference teams this season – en route to 522 yards of total offense.

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Legendary basketball coach John Wooden once said “Sports don’t build character, they reveal it.” And in the case of Austin Peay State University softball player Allie Blackwood no truer a statement could be said.

Four years ago, the Dalton, GA native came to Clarksville to pitcher for the Governors softball team and occasionally may see some time at first base and for two and a half years that is what happened.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announces results of Human Trafficking Operation in Chattanooga

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationChattanooga, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced results of a two-part operation to combat human trafficking in Tennessee.  “Operation Someone Like Me” was conducted in Chattanooga during four days in September and October and is the third operation of its kind in the state between the TBI and partner agencies to help identify, investigate and prosecute trafficking and rescue victims.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University softball team has added pitcher Allie Blackwood during the fall signing period.

Blackwood was 11-7 for her Dalton (GA) High School squad last season, with a 1.75 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 115 innings pitched. She also hit .443 with 23 RBI as a third baseman, earning all-region honors for the second consecutive season.

Although the spotlight might shine on key offensive and defensive position battles with training camp in full swing, Brinkley knows for certain that his ability to adjust to an NFL-style and pace of play on special teams won’t be overlooked as he vies for a roster spot.

Tennessee Titans are Set for the Start of Training Camp

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Titans are scheduled to begin training camp this week at Baptist Sports Park in Nashville. Rookies and quarterbacks reported on Tuesday, July 24th, and they will be joined by the remaining veterans on Friday, July 27th.

Fans of the Titans can get their first glimpse of the 2012 squad on Sunday, July 29th, the first of 13 total training camp practices that will be free for the public to attend. Tennessee Titans Set Schedule for Public Training Camp Practices

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have set their training camp practice schedule, which will include 12 practices open to the public at Baptist Sports Park and one open practice with the Atlanta Falcons in Georgia.

The first opportunity fans will have to see first-round draft pick Kendall Wright and his 2012 NFL Draft rookie classmates is 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Sunday, July 29th.
