APSU Governors Football picked ninth in preseason poll at OVC Media Day

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University football was picked ninth in the Ohio Valley Conference by a vote of the conference coaches and sports information directors announced Monday at the annual OVC Media Day.

Defending champion Jacksonville State was the top preseason choice for a third straight year, picking up 16 of 18 first-place votes and 128 points total.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior libero April Adams, of the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Adams led the Lady Govs with 65 digs in three matches—all wins—for Austin Peay last week, concluding the week with a 31-dig outing in Saturday’s Senior Day outing against UT Martin.

In addition to her 65 digs, the Ashland City, Tennessee, native had just five receiving errors in 76 attempts (93.4 percent) and recorded four aces in three matches.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University football Senior Day started with great promise, as nine seniors donned their uniforms for the final time and the Govs marched down the field to score on the opening possession.

But the Governors were shut out in the second half, while Southeast Missouri scored the game’s final 23 points in a 44-15 Redhawk victory.

Kenwood And Henry County Advance to District 10-AAA Boys Basketball Tournament Championship

 

Clarksville, TN– The hardwood at Rossview High School was lit up with District 10-AAA Boys Basketball Semifinal action Saturday, February 15th. The Kenwood Knights continued their charge to the Championship game, defeating the Springfield Yellow Jackets 56-32.

In addition, the Henry County Patriots won a nail biter, 43-40, against the West Creek Coyotes to advance to the Championship.

The two teams will face each other Tuesday, February 18th, 7:30pm at Rossview High School for the tournament championship.

Jachin Almon leads West Creek Coyotes to District 10-AAA Win over Northeast Eagles

 

West Creek High School Coyotes - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Jachin Almon scored 20 of his total 25 points in the second half to lead his Coyotes over the Northeast Eagles in a District 10-AAA showdown at Northeast High School Tuesday night, February 4th.

Both teams started slow. At halftime the Coyotes led by only two points, 17-15.

The score remained close until less than four minutes in the third period. Eagle Jaylyn Thorpe made a 3-pointer at 3:58 to give his team a 24-22 lead. However, Almon responded with back-to-back baskets including one from downtown as part of a Coyote 8-0 run to finish the period.
