Fort Campbell, KY – The EDGE! (Experience, Develop, Grow, Excel) offers out-of-school opportunities for 12-18 year old youth to experience, develop, grow and excel by participating in “cutting edge” art, fitness, life skills and adventure activities.

Learn how to cook traditional German foods with Oktoberfest Cooking on Wednesdays, October 3rd, 17th, and 24th from 4:30pm to 6:00pm at Cole Park Commons. There are 12 spaces available for this class. All good cooks must develop instrumental skills in kitchen safety and health, so be prepared to learn some life skills while having fun and trying some delicious new foods! Stand on the EDGE! in September

Fort Campbell, KY – Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS) is offering wonderful programs during the month of September for Fort Campbell youth ages 11 to 18. Experience, Develop, Grow, and Excel (EDGE) is an opportunity for kids to experience cutting edge art, fitness, life skills and adventure programs.

Capture and conquer the opposing team in an adventurous game of paintball! Participants will be grouped into teams and will compete against each other on the rugged terrain out on the paintball field. Hide and shoot, or charge your way to victory on September 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th; from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Meet at Taylor Youth Center for transportation to Outdoor Recreation area. Youth can join the program at any time during the month. Participants are encouraged to wear tennis shoes, long sleeved shirts and pants. Come get Tangled every Monday during June at Taylor Youth Center, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. If you like to doodle then you will love this fun pen, pencil and ink art class. The art of “tangling” is a creative art form where you can develop focus and dexterity. We provide the supplies, and participants bring creativity. Participants will take home a portfolio of patterns, and skills they can use to design journals, scrapbooks, clothing, and more. Come get your grill on and learn how to grill corn on the cob, prepare delicious sides, and of course, burgers and hotdogs. Fire up your ovens and get baking with Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) EDGE! Cooking with Love. Cole Park Commons and the CYSS EDGE! program have teamed up to provide a unique culinary arts experience for fifteen youth ages 11 to 18. Teens will have the opportunity to learn from one of the best chefs in the business, Executive Chef Bob Howell, from Eagle Catering. During this four week program, participants will be learning sanitation and safety in week one, table service to include table settings, napkin folding, and service styles in week two, preparing and sampling menus in week three, and in week four participants will prepare a special Valentine’s Day themed five course meal for Family and guests. CYSS EDGE! January Programs

Nurture your inner Carlos Santana with an introduction to guitar at Taylor Youth Center. Six youth between the ages of 11 and 18 will learn how to identify the parts of the guitar, tune strings, and will be taught basic elements which distinguish between notes and chords. Come strum along in session one on January 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st, or for session two on January 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th; from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Taylor Youth Center.   «Read the rest of this article»

Holiday Fun with EDGE! in December

One of the great things about Christmas morning is getting to open your presents in your PJ’s. Make this year extra special as you open up presents in PJ’s made by you. Six youth between the ages of 11 and 18 are invited to participate in an EDGE! program that allows you to sew your own PJ’s. EDGE! Sewing PJ’s takes place at Taylor Youth Center on December 1st, 8th and 15th, from 4:00pm until 5:00pm.
