Land Between the Lakes Expands List of ?Recreation Sites Temporarily Shut Down

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – To protect public health and align with federal, state, and local guidance to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area (LBL) officials have announced the temporary shutdown of facilities, campgrounds, and developed camping areas for the safety of visitors and staff.

These measures are temporary but effective immediately. A date for reopening recreation areas is currently undetermined.

LBL’s Early Squirrel Season Begins May 13th

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area’s 2017 spring squirrel hunting season will open May 13th – June 11th, in Tennessee and May 20th – June 16th, in Kentucky.

Hunters must have a valid Kentucky or Tennessee state hunting license for the state in which they are hunting. Hunters age 16 and older must also have a Land Between the Lakes Hunter Use Permit. These are available online, 24/7 at www.landbetweenthelakes.us/reservations

Land Between the Lake releases Late Fall & Winter Operation Schedule

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Visitor facilities at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area began late fall and winter operation schedules in November.

Homeplace 1850s Working Farm and Woodlands Nature Station will offer various guided programs, including the popular Bald Eagle Van and River Cruise Tours. Starting November 25th, Planetarium visitors will experience vivid laser lights set to holiday music and other holiday shows digitally projected on a 40-foot dome. Groups of 10 or more can make reservations any time by calling 270.924.2020.

Public Invited to Dedication of the Golden Pond Interpretive Overlook at Land Between the Lakes

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area invites members of the public to the dedication of the Golden Pond, Kentucky Interpretive Overlook. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, at 2:00pm.

The Friends of Land Between the Lakes will provide light refreshments. Visitors are asked to arrive 15 minutes early.

Land Between The Lakes “No Hunting” Zones Open to Archery Deer Hunting

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Five areas typically marked as “No Hunting” will opened to archery deer hunting on December 1st, in Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Hillman Ferry and Energy Lake campgrounds will be open to archery hunting through January 19th.

Piney Campground, Brandon Spring Group Center, and the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16 south of Fort Henry Road will be open to archery hunting through January 4th. Hunters are encouraged to harvest antlerless deer in these areas to maintain healthy deer populations.

LBL to host Choosing and Using Binoculars and Telescopes event

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – The Golden Pond Planetarium and West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers present Choosing and Using Binoculars and Telescopes following the 5:00pm evening planetarium program Saturday, November 14th, in the Golden Pond Visitor Center. The presentation is free and open to the public.

“This is a perfect opportunity to meet people with similar interests and learn how to use telescopes and binoculars to view the moon and stars. Plenty of experts from the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers club will be available to offer assistance,” said Planetarium Manager, Rob Milner.

Land Between The Lakes to Celebrate National Trails Day

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLOffice of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – In celebration of the 23rd Annual National Trails Day on Saturday, June 6th, Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area invites the public to help with general trail maintenance on the Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail.

Volunteers will meet at Golden Pond Visitor Center at 8:30am and work until around 12:00pm. Bring lunch, water bottles, and wear appropriate clothing, i.e., long pants, hiking boots, gloves, etc. The Forest Service will provide all tools and equipment, tick spray, and safety glasses.

Land Between the Lakes - LBLOffice of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area’s 2015 spring squirrel hunting season will open May 9th-June 14th, in Tennessee and May 16th-June 19th, in Kentucky.

Hunters must have a valid Kentucky or Tennessee state hunting license for the state in which they are hunting. Hunters age 16 and older must also have a Land Between The Lakes Hunter Use Permit. These are available online, 24/7 at www.landbetweenthelakes.us/reservations/ or North and South Welcome Stations, Golden Pond Visitor Center, and wherever Kentucky and Tennessee state hunting licenses are sold.
