Taliban disinformation campaign thwarted by ANA and U.S. forces

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionBastogneKunar Province, Afghanistan – The mountainside of the Shigal Valley in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar Province came alive, March 16th, with the whirring of helicopters marking the beginning of Operation Eagle Talon.

Afghan National Army soldiers and Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Task Force No Slack, flooded Shigal District where slabs of rock stretch into the fertile valley floors.

Afghan, coalition forces conclude operations in eastern Pech Valley

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionBastogneKunar Province, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and International Security Assistance Forces concluded clearing operations November 17th in the eastern Pech River Valley, Kunar Province.

The combined security force had moved into the Watapur Valley to search for militants and weapons caches November 14th.

Reports indicate that as many as 49 insurgents may have been killed during the security sweep of the area. «Read the rest of this article»

James of Columbus, GA, forward observer for 4th Platoon, Company D, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, Task Force Bulldog, calls in mortar fire during a more than three-hour fire fight at the Shege East Afghan National Police checkpoint September 18th.

An estimated two dozen Insurgents fired rocket-propelled grenades, heavy machine guns and small arms at the post in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar Province. International Security Assistance Forces and ANP responded in kind with small arms, heavy machine gun and mortar fire. Neither ISAF nor ANP personnel were injured during the attack.

Servicemembers receive Humanitarian Service medal

Regional Command East - Combined Joint Task Force - 101Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan – A ceremony was held at Bagram Airfield October 3rd, to recognize 121 servicemembers who supported the relief efforts after flooding in Pakistan in late July of this year.

Senior commanders and command sergeants major from Regional Command-East, International Security Assistance Forces and International Security Assistance Forces Joint Command awarded each servicemember the Humanitarian Service Medal for answering a troubled nation’s call.

Coalition forces on patrol in Watapur

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionKunar Province, Afghanistan – 1st Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, Task Force Bulldog, provides security for his platoon outside the village of Angla Kala in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar Province September 16th.

International Security Assistance Forces and Afghan National Security Forces often patrol the Watapur Valley area together to prevent insurgents from moving freely though the area and staging attacks.

Combined forces repel night attacks at base

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchKunar Province, Afghanistan – Insurgents attacked Combat Outpost Badel August 25th, at dusk with small arms, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars against the base in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar Province.

Neither International Security Assistance Forces nor Afghan National Security Forces were injured during the assault.

Joint patrol with community purpose

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne Division PatchKunar Province, Afghanistan – Task Force Bulldog takes part in a joint Afghan National Army and International Security Assistance Forces patrol to the village of Kuz Kormal in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar Province July 26th.

The patrol allowed ANA and ISAF officials to meet with village leaders, survey residents and discuss potential public works projects in the area.
