Nashville Sounds hold off San Antonio Missions for 6-5 Win

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds Patrick Wisdom hit a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the team to a 6-5 win over the San Antonio Missions in front of a sellout crowd of 10,632 fans Friday night at First Tennessee Park.

Wisdom’s mammoth homer to left-center was his 30th of the season. The 30 home runs are tied for the eighth-most by a Sounds player in single-season team history.

David Carpenter came in for the top of the ninth and faced the minimum to earn his 21st save of the season. The 21 saves for Carpenter is the seventh-most in single-season team history.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – This week’s preseason opener marks the seventh time the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles have clashed in the preseason. They split the first six games 3-3.

During the regular season, the two clubs have met on 12 occasions.

The Eagles hold a 7-5 advantage, although the Titans have won five of the last six matchups, including the most recent game in 2018.

Nashville Sounds drop doubleheader to Round Rock Express

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Round Rock Express trimmed the American Southern Division race to three games with a doubleheader sweep over the Nashville Sounds in front of 7,388 fans Sunday afternoon at First Tennessee Park.

The Sounds’ offense struggled and managed two runs in game one and just one run in game two.

Round Rock used a four-run third inning to help score a 5-2 win in the first game Sunday afternoon. Doug Bernier started the scoring with a solo homer off Nashville starter Jesse Hahn.

Round Rock Express Wild Pitch gives Nashville Sounds 5-4 win in the Tenth

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Joey Wendle raced home with the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Nashville Sounds a thrilling 5-4 win over the Round Rock Express in front of a sell-out crowd of 11,119 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.

With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the tenth, Colin Walsh ripped a one-out double to the right-center gap to put a runner in scoring position. Walsh was hurt on the play rounding second and was replaced by pinch-runner Joey Wendle.

Nashville Sounds get 12 inning win over Round Rock Express

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Chad Pinder hit a walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the Nashville Sounds a thrilling 7-6 win over the Round Rock Express in front of 6,104 fans Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park.

The win extended the season-long winning streak to nine games for the Sounds who have won 16 of their last 17 games. It also pushed Nashville’s American South Division lead to 3.5 games over the Express.

Trailing 6-5 going to the bottom of the 12th, Max Muncy started the rally when he drew a walk off of Carlos Fisher. The right-hander bounced back and retired the next two hitters to put the game on the shoulders of Ryon Healy.

Jake Surkamp Strikes out 10 in Sounds debut

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – Renato Nunez broke a scoreless tie with a solo shot to left field in the top of the fourth inning to spark a three run inning and the Sounds hung on for a 3-2 win against the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond on Friday night.

Nunez’s home run in the fourth triggered a two out rally as Matt Olson’s laced a two-run double to right to score Andrew Lambo and Jake Smolinski to put the Sounds up 3-0.

Sounds starter Eric Surkamp was dealing after being optioned earlier in the week by Oakland.

Nashville Sounds Outfielder Jason Pridie Belts Two Home Runs To Join The 20-20 Club

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – Jason Pridie smashed his way into the history books by pounding a pair of home runs in a 6-5 loss to Tacoma in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Cheney Stadium.

The two-homer game was the second this season for Pridie and bumped his long ball total to 20, a new career high. He became the first Sound since J.J. Davis (2003) to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases in a season.  Pridie also established a new career high (88) by tying a season-high four RBIs in the contest.

Tanner Peters Throws 1.2 Scoreless in Triple-A Debut

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – Nashville built an early 3-0 lead, but Tacoma stormed back scoring eight unanswered runs to defeat the Sounds at Cheney Stadium on Friday night.

After Ryan Roberts doubled, Jason Pridie gave the Sounds an early 2-0 lead, driving in the veteran utility man and infielder Joey Wendle. Wendle keyed another rally in his next at bat, hitting his 38th double of the season and then coming around to score on a Brent Morel single. The hits came off rehabbing Seattle Mariners starter James Paxton.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (0-0) open their 2014 preseason this week, welcoming the defending NFC North Champion Green Bay Packers (0-0) to LP Field (capacity 69,143). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm CDT on Saturday, August 9th.

Fans are encouraged to participate in the LP PENCIL Box School Supply Drive at the game. LP PENCIL Box, a collaborative non-profit venture between PENCIL Foundation and LP Building Products, offers Nashville Metro teachers the opportunity to acquire school supplies for the city’s most in-need children.

Fort Bragg, NC – On Friday, February 1st, 2013, history came alive for the more than 500 people in attendance at the Fort Bragg Officer’s Club.

The event, part of the African American Heritage Observance, was hosted by the 8th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) Equal Opportunity office, and the start of African American History Month at Fort Bragg, NC.

Featured guest speaker, Donald Elder, captivated the audience with his stories and experiences as a young man who enlisted into the Army with the desire to join the famed Tuskegee Airmen unit. As Elder took the podium and observed the mass of military uniforms, he was visibly awed with the response from the audience.

“If I had any idea of the things I went through after joining the Army Air Corps would  result into this opportunity to be with you today, reliving those experiences for you, I would do it all again over,” said Elder. «Read the rest of this article»
